Killers have disposed of bodies in teh canals of Doskvol for centuries. the vengeful Ghosts that rise from the corpses are a serious treat- a threat dealt with by the Gondoliers since ancient times. Before the Spirit wardens were created by the Emperor, the Gondoliers protected citizens from rogue spirits and supernatural dangers of all kinds. The Gondoliers are beloved by most citizens, who prefer to go to them with "weird problems" rather than relying on the ruthless and indiscriminate judgement of the Spirit Wardens. Beloved by all Citizenry of all districts, the Gondoliers are able to only call the Lampblacks as true allies. The rivalry with the Spirit Wardens often spills out into outright hositlity, with them and the Red Sashes opposing them where they can.
They are lead by Eisele and her Chief Whisperer Griggs. together they control a fleet of gondolas and other water craft. they claim all the canals of Doskvol as their own and even the Bluecoats pay tribute to them. Each member is a dedicated adept of the weird, and are able to compel ghosts to do their bidding. they have detailed maps of all known spirit wells and arcane sites across the city, truly valuable information to those who deal in ghosts.
