Rock Quarry

Overview

An unimaginatively named quarry town sitting next to Lake Lerodan at the beginning of the Stone River. It is Dosjorya's largest quarry for easily accessible limestone, the primary building material for the region.
Characteristics
Rock Quarry is a small town population-wise due to its remote location. However, due to its unnaturally large deposit of limestone and other deposits of granite, slate, and ores nearby, it is the largest settlement by area. Residents of this town currently live on a flattened hill on the western edge, the sight of the very first mine. Because of the resources that have been found there and continue to be found there, Rock Quarry is one of the oldest towns continuously settled in Dosjorya outside of the grasslands.   Despite the sheer amount of stone and ore mined, few people in Rock Quarry actually become rich from their labors. The Order of Innena and the Dosjoryan army jointly regulate production and pricing for the mined stone due to its widespread use by both organizations and beyond. Even those who work deeper underground mining iron, copper, gold, silver, and other metals do not become rich, as even metal ores are common in the area and elsewhere. Only precious gems are rare in Rock Quarry and in Dosjorya as a whole.   Small scale agriculture exists as the primary way for the town to feed itself. Its location close to the forests of Dosjorya where the mountains are short and crumbling allows for crops to grow very well with rainwater alone. The crumbling slopes turn into dirt containing many nutrients and the short mountains do not block very much light in the mornings and evenings. Various skilled craftsmen also live in Rock Quarry, mainly supporting the miners and farmers but also providing many of the basic necessities for normal life.
History
Within a hundred years of the peace agreement between humans and Gendirlo, Innena were sent out to roam the wild, unseen lands in search for the resources required for a fledgling nation recently removed from war. Among the resources searched for were stones or clays from which houses and defensive structures could be made from. These could be found in small quantities spread out in the grasslands but steadier and easier sources needed to be found. One group of Innena managed to peacefully speak with members of a clan of Emeni who spoke of a place where the gods lifted certain types of rock to the surface, filled with unattainable wonders no Gendirl could identify.
