Innen Bond (IN-nin bond)

Overview

A magical, reversible, telepathic connection between a human and a Gendirl. Of varying strengths, from a simple thread of thought to a fusion of the very soul.
Characteristics
An Innen bond always occurs between a human and a Gendirl who are friendly to each other, not between two humans or two Gendirlo. Only humans born with the specific ability can form a bond, giving them the advantage of choosing a desired Gendirl partner if they so wish and are aware of their ability.   Nearly all Innen bonds are considered a simple friendship, marked by the ability to share projected thoughts to their partner but nothing else. Even at this level of bond, souls are linked together, but only slightly. Many partners do grow closer over time, but it is emotional more than magical. Innena of this bond strength who separate feel mostly normal emotional responses, especially if the cause of separation is death.   A rare few bonds run deeper, where the partners can share vague thoughts and share more of their soul. Separation for such Innena is more painful, influenced by both emotional responses and the pain of losing a part of their soul. These bonds, while tight, are still considered normal.   Rarer still is an even tighter bond that occurs only a couple times in a generation. Partners in such a bond have their souls and minds linked so tightly that the pain of separation far exceeds any typical emotional response and can even lead to spontaneous death in weaker individuals. No Innena of this type of bond ever feel the need to voluntarily separate and are usually driven insane by losing their partner. Such individuals can pose a hazard to themselves and others in this event which has led to distrust of these tight bonds within the Order of Innena.
Separation
Neither partner of an Innen bond needs to be a Conjurer in order to break their bond. The reason for this is unclear, but as the god of Joy is partly responsible for the Innen bond's properties, it likely made this easily accessible in the case of incompatible partners wanting to end their bond.   In the event of separation, both partners chant three times a specific phrase in a long forgotten language reminiscent of the speech used by the first Emeni Gendirlo, the words of which are rarely translated to Innena during their early training.
