Scar

Believed to be a remnant of The Age of Dusk, the Scar is barren expanse with little in the way of life or means to support it.   The massive expanse of the Scar combined with its lack of organic resources has made it nigh impossible to effectively settle or police, leaving most who enter it to fend for themselves.

Geography

The Scar is a expanse miles wide in even its narrowest sections. Surveyors detailing the Scar from aerial views depict it as an elongated swath of land in seeming perpetual shadow compared to neighboring fields. From the ground, it is a series of rocky, jutting hills broken by barren valleys and steep cliffs.    Expeditions into the area have reported numerous cave systems within the hills, though little explorations have been conducted into them given scarce resources and risks of bandits. For all anyone has been able to discern, the caves may network across the entire Scar and possibly beyond or they be simply localized to individual ranges of hills and low mountains.

Fauna & Flora

Soil within the Scar is far from the most fertile. Patches of wild flowers and herbs have been found, but attempts to cultivate sections of land for agricultural purposes have failed.    Animals from neighboring lands have ventured into the Scar', but are rarely seen deep within its borders. Most attribute this to the scarcity of natural resources needed for most foraging animals to sustain themselves.

Natural Resources

While the Scar is lacking in organic resources, one thing it does have in abundance is crystal formations. Typically found within its cave systems, various types of crystals can be found including flame and frost crystals. Deposits of night crystals have even been discovered in multiple locations, making the Scar one home to some of the richest veins of the mineral.   The sharp contrast between its abundance of crystals and utter lack of natural resources has lead some to theorize over potential connections, but no evidence of such as yet to come to light.

Tourism

The abundance of crystals has drawn a number of scholars hoping to research the stones to the Scar's caverns over the decades.    In a similar vein, mining operations have long been sought over the crystals within the Scar, but obstacles including the region's infamous lack of sustaining resources and infertile soil has lead to little progress to be made in that regard.   More than either, though, the region has become infamous as a popular area for bandits and outlaws. The rough terrain, expansive cave networks, and lack of any civilization has made the Scar a perfect place for criminals to hide from authorities.
