Triandria

Triandria, a settlement in The Glass Desert, is undoubtedly the most impactful in the region-- despite it's size. Larger than Esteria but smaller than Saraze it holds about 250 people within its border. The name Triandria was given to this settlement as it is located next to 3 rivers, which join together before heading southward, the 3 islands that lie in these rivers, and the 3 guard towers that oversee the surrounding area and protect the vital resources that are found here. During the driest seasons Triandria will dam the westward rivers in order to secure enough of the dwindling water supply to irrigate its crops and supply its citizens, while leaving the stream from Mount Toroyama to give a small amount of water to the settlements below. Water use is strictly monitored during this time, and non-essential consumption of water such as bathhouses and fountains is forbidden. At the end of the shortage there is a large celebration within the town and the dams are removed, allowing the Southbound river to be revitalized and the restrictions on water use to be lifted. The return of the rain that fills this river marks both good and bad for the Northmost settlement-- as crops can flourish once again, but Triandria loses its temporary grip on power over the Desert. The food Triandria provides to the Desert is vital and is given first priority of water supplies when rationing is necessary-- often leaving the lowest of its citizens dehydrated and disgruntled.

Demographics

The same as the rest of the Desert-- Mainly Human settlers and Yuan-ti natives.

Defences

3 freestanding guard towers form a triangle around the settlement, keeping watch on the East, South, and West borders of Triandria while allowing Mount Toroyama to cover the North. Additionally, a small rotating group of guards patrol the fields constantly to protect it from any would-be rodents and thieves. The other major resource, water, is protected from harm by small single-man posts dotting Triandrias' dams.

Industry & Trade

Triandria very quickly began to establish itself as the agricultural powerhouse of The Glass Desert, making use of the water provided from the North. The food produced from Triandria, though scarce, is vital to the economy of the Desert as importing food for an entire region would make colonization almost impossibly expensive. Rarely do Triandrian goods make it past the ports-- the local demand for them being far too high to warrant shipping goods out of the Desert.

Natural Resources

Water provided by the rivers, despite its necessity, is not entirely controlled by Triandria. The settlements of the Desert have a silent agreement with one another to not hoard something so vital to life regardless of the qualms or quarrels-- though Triandria does dam and ration most of the water during the driest months of the year in order to protect it's main export. The food that Triandria produces is its only major resource, being grown within its borders and distributed to the desert via merchant caravans.
