The Eldrok Forest

Being one of the largest forests on the continent, the Eldrok supports a wide variety of life within and outside of its treeline. The settlements in the surrounding area rely on it for wood and food, while the creatures within it enjoy a plentiful bounty of brush and berries. The advantages of this forest did not go unnoticed by Linrea and Calumdor, who both tried to settle and claim the majority of the forest for their own benefit. The vitality of the Eldrok was so important, the two kingdoms went to war with one another over it-- the Linrean-Calumdorian War came about when Linrea tried to take a large portion of the forest for itself. This conflict ended with the forest remaining as a neutral zone, allowing both kingdoms to harvest its bounty without claiming more than it needs. However, in the fighting, the nearby Hollow Plains were ignited by Crumizur's fires and left to burn. The fires still burn to this day, inching ever nearer to the Eldrok and getting dangerously close to setting the forest ablaze. A small portion of the forest has already been lost but was luckily extinguished by a passing rainstorm before it became a major problem.

Geography

Growing onto what was once part of The Hollow Plains, The Eldrok Forest is on flat and steady ground that has a few hills dotting the landscape. The soil retains water well enough to support a diverse range of trees and underbrush that take advantage of the plentiful sunlight that shines unobstructed onto the forest's canopy and across the plains.

Fauna & Flora

While the majority of the Eldrok is composed of the more common varieties of temperate trees, within the forest is a separate, unique variety of tree known as the Menril Trees. The blue-hued trees make up a subsection of the Eldrok known as the Meneglin Forest. The wildlife in the Eldrok have evolved to live in both the Meneglin and the area surrounding it, gaining a slightly blue tint to better blend in with the spectacular cyans and light blues that would make any common-colored squirrel or deer a beacon to nearby predators.
