Sol Obicis
Alledomin is widely renown as the crown of the world. If the city is a crown then the Sol Obicis is its centerpiece. The massive temple a testament to Veren art and culture. Travers from around the world come to visit; most for religious purposes, but some just to admire its magnificence.
Purpose / Function
The Sol Obicus is the largest, and most grandous temple in Dominaelm. Built as a testament of the Veren's Faith. The massive cathedral serves a majority of the cities religious purposes. These range from regular service, holidays, public announcement, and so forth. The most notable of which is the crowning of the emperor. Thousands gather for this auspicious event, and it is said that the heavens themselves part, so the Lord of the Sun can view the celebrations.
Every day at dawn and dusk. The clergy of this venerable building wake the city with hymns from the ten towers in the morning, and put it to sleep with hymns at dusk. The songs often tell of happenings on thsi day, or messages from the divine. These messages could be anything from omens to a prophecy.
Architecture
The building is surrounded by 10 massive sermon towers. The main building resembles a 5 on a dice, and is marked by cascading domes, and shining marble. Despite its size and decor The Cathedral maintains a similar architecture to most Veren buildings. Wide arching doors crowned with elaborate artworks, Large open areas that allow the sun to shine in, and numerous amount of columns.
History
The Sol Obicus is said to be the first building constructed in Alledomum. The massive temple allegedly took a generation to complete. Although, it stayed true to the original design. The holy district around the cathedral grew with the city, causing the building become more of a complex than a solo structure. The district is the only pace aside the imperial palace with its own set of walls.
