Skyships

One good thing about those damn float rocks, it cut my caravan time in half!.
First invented after the Elemental Exodus,. Airships are boats that are filled, or build with Ouranós Navis otherwise known as float stone.   The lower hull of a sky ship mimics its seafaring predecessor. Giving them a ship like silhouette from the views on the ground. However, the upper deck of a skyship is covered by a cylindrical roof that slops near the stern of the ship. This 'roof' was designed to give the crew better protection from avian creatures, the wind itself, and enemy vessels.

Power Generation

Coal or Wood burning furnaces.

Propulsion

The skyships are equipped with four sails that cover the cylindrical hull of the ship. Additional foldable sails are stowed in the mid deck. In addition to these sails, burners are placed above and blow, and operate in a similar fashion to hot air balloons. Elevation sails are used primarily for landing and take off. However a majority of the vertical movement is due to the stores of float rock underneath the ship, rather than the burners themselves.

Weapons & Armament

Armaments are not standard on early sky-ships.

Armor and defense

An average sky ship will have long metal or wooden railings that run along the exterior of the hull. These rails are meant to prevent any mid air collisions, and assist in landing. Often ship masters build defensive platforms on the top of the ships roof, so mages and archers can protect themselves from elevated assaults. The primary means of defense however is steel/float-stone plating on the wooden roof of the ship.

Communication Tools & Systems

It is not uncommon for mirrors to be placed on these vessals. These are primarly for the purpose of signaling other vessels.
