Common Veren Housing

The crowded markets were surrounded the oval domed houses that were signature in Veren cites. Aside from the massive domes , an average house would sport an excessive amount of columns, and could be characterised by their large smooth walls and detailed engravings. Veren’s enjoyed their esthetics, and extravagance. Towns would often came together in order to ensure their city looked prosperous, and fit the appropriate aesthetic. If The residents could not afford the changes, the local authority fronted the bill, and moved them into larger ‘houses’ which were actually home to multiple families. Those poor souls would be taxed heavily to compensate the construction, and often could barely afford the basic necessities.

Although a well designed and proud exterior, Artor new the truth that hid within the walls of a Veren house. Often little more than the bare essentials decorated the interior. A more philosophical man might see these homes as an analogy for the empire. Prosperous and proud to onlookers, but desolate and empty in its core. Alas, Artor had no care for philosophy, and quickly dropped the thought as he began following Roland through the crowds.

Purpose / Function

Aside from the obvious, Veren utilizes its houses as objects in a painting. Mayors often spend large portions of their budgets re-designing houses, so their city, town, village, etc fits the Veren aesthetic.

Alterations

Class Based Variations

Since not everyone in Veren is able to afford to make constant renovations, many city governments assist residents in the process. Three distinct variations of housing have emerged from this practice:

Upper Classes

The largest and most ornate of Veren housing. These manors often have two to three extra wings. The doorways and walls are covered in elaborate art, Window are covered with silk curtains. Extravagant additions from walls to fountains can be found on these premises.

Commoners

A normal Veren house.

Communal Housing

Communal Housing is roughly the same size as a standard Veren house. Looking from the outside in there is very few diffrences. The Inside however is a different story entirely. The interior is often spacious, and partitioned of by thin walls. Multiple familes often live in houses, each of them having their own corner of the building.

Architecture

Veren Architecture is signified by large oval domes, liberal use of columns, and large arched doors. The exteriors are commonly marble, but are often painted in bright colors. Wealthier houses often have rose tinted glass facing east and west, but a majority of houses are open air.
