Oral history

While non-military written records are rare, oral traditions are alive and well in Domhan. Written tradition is mostly about what's going on at the front lines; but oral tradition is a way to keep legends alive and to transfer news all over the world.   Bards may be the most important cultural factor for keeping the people informed. They know a wealth of legends and stories from ancient times, as well as war stories from more recent happenings. By going to cities and spreading those stories, either through song, poetry, or theatre, bards spread knowledge far and wide. This is especially true as those that listen to these stories often spread it further.   This means that Domhan's culture puts a lot of emphasis on song, dance, and other ways to creatively share stories with one another. The vast theatres of Gestrini are known worldwide, and the Junction's songstresses can bring even the most hardened warriors to tears. Even Vengeance, usually so focused on war, practice a form of singing that even beasts can participate in; and the people of Free Domhan have war chants designed to intimidate their enemies. The people of the Junction are famed for their religious hymns; and there are many other forms besides. Even the Holy Dragon Empire has elaborate religious rituals that involve deep, throaty songs sung in Draconic.
