Ash

Ash is the elusive leader of the rebel group Free Aronica, which has continually hounded the Domerian government in the Aronican region of Domeris. Little is known about her, save for her fanatical hatred of Doran Regnar's regime and seemingly endless charisma. She has inspired thousands of people to take up arms against Domeris for the ideals of freedom, democracy and justice. And she will not be satisfied until her blade cleaves Doran's head from his body. Ash wields Justice, a formidable crux that resonates strongly with her own personality.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Ash is a fit 27 year old woman of average height. Her body is covered scars from years of combat. While at first glance she may appear somewhat thin, her Crux empowers her with great strength.

Special abilities

The few Domerian soldiers to have survived an encounter with her forces while she personally leads them all say the same thing, that she is a terrific force on the battlefield, as she begets terror. Ash is seemingly a once in a generation military savant, having managed to build up her rebel forces from a smattering of thugs and bandits into a highly capable, if lightly equipped, force. Ash is an expert defeat in detail, as the Armed Forces of Domeris almost always outnumber her forces on the battlefield. Through a combination of environmental expertise and irregular warfare she has ground many Domerian formations into dust through attrition. Although her capabilities in large scale warfare have yet to be tested, her followers are confident that given a large enough force she could bring the entire Domerian state down in a single year.    Few things are known about her abilities in close combat, for none have survived an encounter with her personally. Entire Crux subjugation squadrons have tried and failed to bring her down. While wielding Justice her strikes can easily cleave through armor enhanced by any mass-produced Cruxes, and the superior endurance granted by the great-sword has allowed her to endure injuries that would have killed anyone else. But Justice is just a tool, and it is not one she is reliant upon.   In another time, in another life, Ash found herself standing before a Crux with little more than a mundane sword to defend herself with. The Crux was nothing special, a Domerian officer wearing an Type-02 "Rook". But even the crudest Crux can make one impervious to normal blows. Staring at the officer who had personally ordered the slaughter of her village, Ash raised her sword high. Higher than any normal stance for she had only one goal, maximum power. The officer allowed her one strike, confident that any blow would merely bounce off his armor. But ash was driven by something far greater than herself that day, as she struck soul and steel became one for a single instant. Seconds later the officer's Crux empowered helmet was on the ground, cut cleanly into two pieces.

Specialized Equipment

Ash wields Justice, a Crux in the form of a great-sword. Unlike other Cruxes, Justice provides little in the way of enhancements to the durability of armor, instead greatly amplifying the strength of her strikes and granting her faster than average flight. But as long as she remains pure of heart, and is fighting an enemy she truly considers evil, the blade will not allow her body to fail. As long as she remains dedicated to her ideals it will let her survive injuries that would kill any other person. But this protection could be shattered by a single speck of doubt, and time will tell how far she can go before straying from the straight and narrow path.

Personal history

Ash's background is shrouded in mystery, as she prefers to look to the future instead of focusing on the past. But a few common details have allowed her followers to paint a rough picture of her past. Ash was born in a remote village in the mountains of Aronica, which had little to no knowledge of outside political events save for news about the start and end of The Bleeding War. This would all change 4 years after the war ended.    An entire company of Domerian soldiers suddenly arrived, lead by a jumped up major who had seemingly been born in the village. This major had, through bribery and intimidation, gotten his superiors to approve his assignment to the village. The major was obsessed with local legends of gold buried in the mountains, intending to use it to move up the ranks. On his orders the entire village was enslaved and forced into mining the mountains in search of gold that would never be found. A few resisted at first, but none dared resist after he personally cutting down 12 people while wielding his Type-02 "Rook" Crux.   The village was turned into a small replica of the very worst aspects of the old royal Domeris. The villagers toiled in the fields and mines under threat of death or torture. The soldiers roamed around like aristocrats, taking what they wanted with no check on their demands. And the major sat as the king of this small fiefdom, wielding unchallenged authority through the power of his Crux.    As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months, it become increasingly clear that no gold would be found. Bribes could get one far within the Domerian military, but an entire company of soldiers could not be chained to a madman's obsession forever. Even worse, rumors of the brutal treatment of the villagers had started to circle back to the Lorandian garrison, which would have happily sentenced each and every soldier responsible to the guillotine. The major decided to erase any trace of the crimes he had committed, and thus ordered the elimination of the village and its inhabitants before any thorough investigation could be carried out.    Ash was the lone survivor of the massacre, having managed to hide while the soldiers carried out the atrocity. During the night she snuck into the Majors tent, having stolen a sword with the intention of bringing him to justice. She survived the encounter that followed, the major did not. She then made her way across Aronica rallying the desperate and destitute to her banner. Along the way she would obtain the Crux "Justice", and become the leader of one of the largest rebel movements within the country.

Education

While it is unclear weather Ash received any formal education, she is an avid reader and does her best to catch up on the latest writings in both the military and political spheres. This approach has earned her the admiration of many of her colleagues, but some within Free Aronica consider her to be remote from the practical matters of ruling.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Ash decided that the Domerian Major who ordered the slaughter of her village deserved to die, and so she killed him. This event forever shaped her outlook on justice, leading to her fight against the Domerian government. But it has also cemented the power of the blade within her mind, the evil deserve punishment and that punishment shall be death. Ash is not known for showing mercy to her enemies.    Ash is one of the few people alive to have accomplished the mythical feat of Crux-Splitting. Ash does not know how she accomplished the feat, but sometimes late during the night, her mind wanders. It wanders until it has left her body, and something else takes it's place.

Morality & Philosophy

Ash sees only two types of people in the world. Those who are good, and those who are evil. And those who are evil deserve to die. She is quick to sort people into these categories, and is merciless in carrying out justice. She will show no quarter to Domerian forces, or anyone else she considers to be evil, and is famous for handing out harsh punishments for crimes within the territory she controls.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Ash is motivated by her own sense of justice. She considers the Domerian government evil, and as such she is obligated to resist it in any way she can. Her will is ironclad, and nothing will dissuade her from her task. If she were left alone once more, without her Crux or army, she would still keep up the fight. For she can know no rest until Doran Regnar is dead.
