Vil-Mon’ De.
What little information that has been gleaned from truly diabolical sources seems to fall somewhere between malevolent lore and ancient heresy. Those seekers of truth, those that have risked their souls, swear that so frightening a tale must surely be untrue. Yet those lost souls cry out that this undeniable truth is what has shaken their spirits right from their mortal bodies.
What they whisper is that the
Vil-Mon’ De, were once infernal beings of ultimate hatred and evil incarnate. With not just hatred for all others, but also hatred of itself. In particular, between its conflicting and warring halves. With one part of its being seeking rulership and oppression through laws, contracts, and hierarchy, and an opposing part yearning for disorder, anarchy, bedlam, and chaos.
At some point in the deep past, before the recording of any time, these horrid beings, both psychologically and physically were torn in half due to their inability to come to terms with their self-hatred and loathing. From one being emerged two whole and evil creatures, opposed diametrically in alignment of lawful evil and chaotic evil. These new beings were first called the
De’Vils and
De’Mons respectively, and are known today simply as devils and demons.
Although it may seem that one evil just doubled into two, their hatred for each other is exponentially stronger now that each alignment has its own mind and body to attack with, and as such, a never ending diabolical war between both, rages across the infernal planes. With so much of their resources and plans tied up in this war, it leaves little time for any kind of full scale assault on our world or the other inhabitants of the prime material plane. While small or individualized events have occasionally broken through to our world it is always best not to draw any of their attention to one’s self."
