The Sliming Slug

"The Sliming Slug"
Creates a slow moving undulating glowing phantasm of a small slug (usually black with a colored aura). It slowly writhes towards either the closest or more powerful magical barrier or ward. The caster can direct it towards a particular location if more than one target is available in range. The "slug" gains more power and strength with proximity to the magical barrier or ward. Very useful in finding hidden or invisible magics.

Effect

The "slug" travels to the target, and can either identify the location or drain the magic of the barrier or ward.

Side/Secondary Effects

Prolonged exposure may result in the slug being destroyed or collapsing the barrier or ward.

Manifestation

The spell manifests as a glowing black slug with a colored aura, usually white. The size of the "slug" is equivalent to 6 inches + 1 inch per caster level. The larger the "slug" the longer it can last. Each turn the size and duration are reduced by 1 inch and 1 round.

Discovery

Unknown. Usually used in conjunction with others to bring down magical barriers and wards.

Applied Restriction

Caster must maintain concentration and maintain sight of the "slug". Caster must also maintain sight of the intended target if a specific target is desired, otherwise the "slug" heads towards the source of the more powerful magic.
