Irithscale Lizard

Irithscale Lizards diet consists of mostly grasses and berries, and an occasional insect. They have been seen to be extremely pacifist, to the point if a bug were to look at them face to face, they'd scamper away, eating a different, unmoving meal. Their tough armored skin, naming them after the durable metal Irith itself, is jokingly said to be just for show.   These lizards actually have a sad reputation not just for their peaceful nature, but because they are so often found drowned. Not amphibious, they are found near small bodies of water, but cannot hold their breath underwater for long, and are too heavy to swim. Their breeding ritual has males staying underwater more than their rivals, the ones lasting longer resurfacing with high chances of securing a mate. But this can also sometimes result in accidental drowning.
Their webbed feet and fins that eventuate into ridges along their bodies, must have been leftover due to evolution, and no longer serve a purpose.   As they typically mate during summers, traps can be set along the surface of ponds to catch these lizards, either specifically made ones to catch them once with bait, or makeshift buckets to grab them as they resurface and are a little slow to regain their land legs.
