...and even sometimes a loose scale of the lizards as well. While not exactly comfortable, there is no reason other than the symbiotic relationship for the scales to be present near their nests.
Despite being monsters, sometimes a formed relationship between species can appear quite sweet. Take the
Grintongue Rattel.
Nests are meant to house offspring, keep them safe, protect them. A hard armored scale from a lizard that can crack an egg if there's impact? Not the safest thing, but always present somewhere inside a lair, near the nest, is at least one scale from a
Irithscale Lizard.
Some speculate the scales are there for the offspring to recognize as part of their nest, something
safe, and to not be afraid of and trust the lizards, but there is no proven fact.
