Molly Weasley was dismayed to find out her daughter had been the recipient of a rare, limited-edition Nimbus 1700 hairpin, via John Potter. Her reaction was to have a meeting with her husband, and Ms. Andromeda Black, for a Legilimency probe. After the probe failed to penetrate Ginny's fully-developed mental defenses, Mrs. Weasley agreed to purges via potions.
After these failed to induce the truth, Mrs. Weasley advocated for Veritaserum, but was successfully opposed by her husband.
