Tyldamin

Tyldamin is a large country in the western portion of Dlynaeth. It stretches from the coast in the west to Edisul Lake and the Nupoñu river on the eastern border. The country was founded and is mostly inhabited by Taesaf, with also a fair population of Keminsaf, Naelasaf in the coastal towns, and some other folk. The northern part of Tyldamin and especially the northeast, above the road that runs from Chaem to Kopaen, is home to a subculture of the Taesaf. They have semi-independent government from the coastal regions and more southern part of Tyldamin.

Government

Tyldamin is largely ruled by a Triumvirate. The north-east is also under the jurisdiction of a Council of Chieftains who have a mandate of authority in certain matters from the Triumvirate - or the Triumvirate has a mandate of authority from the council, depending on who you ask. Each member of the Triumvirate has a number of ministries to oversee, typically they will have worked in at least one of these. Therefore the ministries tend to be redistributed amongst the Triumvirate at every election although some combinations of responsibility are disallowed, as they are perceived as granting too much power to one individual. The Triumvirate members are elected in rotation, where a seat is up for election every three years. Triumvirate members can be re-elected, with a maximum term of twelve years. They are elected by the borough leaders and the council of chieftains, who are in turn directly elected by their populace.

Settlements

The three most prominent towns of Tyldamin are Medloth, Chaem and Kopaen. Medloth and Chaem are both located between the Tolach Naelath mountains and the coast, with Medloth being by far the larger of the two and the capital. It has a large port, almost all of the IMP facilities, and the seat of the Triumvirate and the ministries. Chaem's prominence is almost entirely due to the Branch, the facilities of the Natural Society, being situated there with some small part being played by sitting on one the routes from Medloth to Kopaen. Kopaen sits on the western bank of Edisul Lake and is a major trading hub with especially close ties to Harthella, the capital town of Byrfenna.

Agricultural Magic

One of Tyldamin's main exports is its vast knowledge of magic related to agriculture. Lomyn have an affinity for nature related magic which the Taesaf have mainly applied to the cultivation of plants and animal husbandry. This is one of the causes for their close alliance with Byrfenna, who have been able to sustain a larger population than they would have without Tyldamin's knowledge. In return, Byrfenna provides access to the many well-crafted and magical artefacts which come out of the magic-rich territories in the Kynfesan Mountains. Chanlot, Methedin, Demúl and other countries in the area are all importers of Tyldamin magic as well. The Natural Society, occasionally in collaboration with other IMP socitieties, is the main source of this ever-expanding hoard of knowledge and consequently under increasing pressure to keep up the output of commercially viable magical technologies.

Climate

Tyldamin is a land of hot, dry summers and cool winters. While far from a barren land, trees are somewhat sparser here than in most regions west of the Kynfesan Mountains and mostly relegated to the uplands and riverbanks. The strip of land between the Tolach Naelath mountains and the sea has much denser vegetation and more trees, as it catches significantly more rain than the surrounding areas.   Much of the country behind is scrubland, or cultivated, which transforms into grasslands and forests as the land slopes down towards Edisúl lake and the Nupoñu river.
