Yorger Taraks the Seated (Yore-gurr Tare-ax)

Yorger the Seated belonged to the House of Taraks, a prominent human family in the Old Kingdom of Saroth. Due to his prestigious connections, it was assumed he would inherit the title of Hail Chief of Saroth. However, the political machinations of one of his younger cousins, Torun Taraks, resulted in Torun being crowned, and Yorger effectively banished to the southern border of Saroth. This did not sit well with him, and he amassed a following that soon rivaled the standing army of Saroth. The ensuing war culminated in 1121 with the Fall of Radun. Yorger the Seated reigned from Radun ineffectively, evacuating it himself in 1127 and returning to the south. Feuds with his former allies caused Yorger to live out his days in tactical games of chess against his now rivals.
Yorger was born in 1087 IIA. He was a quick learner of his studies, quickly surpassing his older siblings and noble peers. He attained his noble status at the Radun Feats and Disciplines in 1106 IIA (definitely on the early side, but not unheard of early). It was after this he gained his moniker "the Seated." He was known to revel in the strategy and mind games, and as such was often found seated. On his exploits to the wilds, he would often successfully direct battles from a seat in his large pavilion.
The Hail Chief seat became vacant in 1118 IIA, and with that the powerful and influential Yorger the Seated thought his nomination was secured. However, a rival cousin named Torun put in the work to secure the required votes from the sitting council members. Yorger, unaware, was busy securing his new estates in the south. Called up to Radun in 1119 IIA for the nomination of the Hail Chief, Yorger arrived in great parade. Needless to say, when the council voted for Torun to lift the golden braid, Yorger stood up in speechless protest. The exact encounter at this council is recorded by the Mages of Ysler in "The Old Kingdom, Its Downfall," but its effect was both Torun and Yorger cursing the other and swearing a death threat. Yorger's hand was limp for a full year, whereas Torun lost hearing in his left ear.
Yorger returned to the south, and proceeded in more earnest to procure allies and armies. His wealthy pocketbook attracted mercenaries of all kinds from Saroth and the surrounding kingdoms, in many places resulting in local lords suddenly finding themselves bereft of security. Yorger the Seated begin his upward thrust in 1120 IIA, long before Torun had time to generate the additional support to amass an army. Yorger advanced on Radun, with few nobles deciding to fight him on his way.
Yorger reached the gates of Radun in the second month of 1121 IIA. The siege is recounted in detail by the Bard of Aristowel, and within eight months it fell to the vengeful Taraks. Torun was nowhere to be found, but many of his supporters continued to put up resistance throughout the countryside around Radun (among them Hevac the Hooded). It was in early 1125 IIA that the plight of Radun was terrible. Trade had nearly ceased to pass through the city due to the brigands like Hevac the Hooded. Radun, once glorious, had taken only four years to become derelict. Additionally, the mercenaries were not friendly and made the animosity between the conqueror and the conquered even more restless. In 1127 IIA, Yorger determined to cut his losses and retreat to the south.
