Dissolution of the Siok Triumvirate

A power struggle between the three heads of the Senpadida Siobkun led to the dissolution of the triumvirate.

A bit over three centuries after the founding of the Senpadida Siobkun, its triumvirate system had shown itself, again and again, to be vulnerable to factionalism. Civil wars were not uncommon, as was the case with most of Lati society.

In 312, one member of the triumvirate, a Lati named Oxad disappeared for a month at the start of the year, reappearing at the top of the great ziggurat in Otanli, proclaiming themselves to be the reincarnation of Mul-Zamain, the first since the god's mortal death. This was disputed by the other two, as it would have given Oxad dejure leadership over the cult. They cited the lack of eyewitnesses of Oxad entering the holy fire at the top of the ziggurat, and the foregoing of the necessary rituals beforehand.

During the one-month period of Oxad's disappearance, when he was 'mediating in the holy fire of the Saviour' the High Tribunist--an early version of the Lore Besh--disappeared as well, and a rushed replacement was instated. The new High Tribunist was the one to declare Oxad the Saviour reincarnated, and despite the iffy circumstances of their instatement, it granted Oxad an air of legitimacy.

Surprisngly, a civil war did not follow. Instead, a shadow war raged as the other two members of the Triumvirate attempted to remove Oxad's influence from the cult, so an easy assassination could be performed. This created massive instability in the cult all the same, allowing dissident groups such as the Imperial Cult to break away.

The two's distrust of each other proved to be their undoing, and in 333, with their power bases stripped away, they were ritually sacrificed in the name of the Saviour. One surrendered himself willingly, the other was dragged kicking and screaming to the sacrifice altar. Their deaths commemorated a restructuring of the cult, so power would be consolidated around the Saviour reborn and their immediate underling, the Lore Besh.
