Consequence

Nathan Brown (a.k.a. Consequence)

Consquence, civilian name Nathan Brown, is a U.S. American Rogue formerly operating in Michigan and Wisconsin. He is the husband and partner-in-crime of Lutīyā and the biological father of Samantha Miller.   Consequence is currently held imprisoned at East Branch, serving a 1X-years prison sentence without possibility of parole.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Nathan is of average height, with short brown hair. With rectangular face and strong jawline, usually covered by a light stubble, when angry he can look intimidating despite his more sender build. He keeps in decent shape but is more an endurance sportsperson than one who trusts in strength. His left eyebrow has been singed during a past battle against a sanctioned super and has only partially regrown.

Special abilities

Consequence is a low-level precog, possessing a sixth sense that warns him against dangerous outcomes when he is about to commit to actions that lead him down such a path. He is unable to assess how a path will lead to danger, though depending on the task he is performing and the goal he has in mind, the definition of danger can be closer to "failure". As he is unable to determine 'correct' outcomes and unable to 'test' multiple options, this power can mostly be applied defensively.

Apparel & Accessories

Consequence costume consisted of a white boilersuit, over which he wore a bulletproof vest and a belt set with various weapons and tools. His face was covered by fishglas-style helmet, later identified as tinker technology, which was only see-through from the inside, appearing as milky white glass from the outside. He wore silken golves and Oxford shoes.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Nathan was born into a low-income family in Detroit, a city in constant economic decline during his youth. While his family tried their best, they were unable to afford him many opportunities in life, leaving him somewhat of a loner with few friends during his early school years.   As a result, he fell in with a bad crowd around the age of thirteen and committed his first minor non-powered thefts in the following years. Awaking to his superpower at sixteen years old, he initally tried to keep them a secret, (ab)using them only to aid his previous "level" of crimes. However, as his activities, which he disguised as having found a part time job to his parents lead to a noticeable improvement in their situation he was encouraged to keep going. He committed his first crime under his super identity a little less than two years later.   Over the next year, he more and more became the focus of the crimefighting efforts of the local Sanctioned supers, as his reputation for being a solo thief grew. Fearing that his lack of offensive capabilities would easily spell his doom should he ever be caught in the act rather than remaining under notice, he began to search Detroid for possible allies, eventually finding one in the Brute Lutīyā. Teaming up, the two soon committed more and more brazen robberies.   Privately, Nathan and his partner-in-crime Amy grew closer and eventually fell in love. After making enough money with their illicit work to afford living by themselfes, the two evenually moved from Detroit to Milwaukee, where the pair got married in 2008, in attendance of only Nathan's family (who still believed he had moved there because of a job opportunity). In 2009, their daughter Samantha was born.   Both cared for their daughter a great deal and alongside raising her lovingly, the two took precautions to ensure that their life in crime would never end up involving her. Nathan set up failsafe plans that would provide their daughter with a false identity should anything happen to the two of them.   While more thought as a precaution against other rogues, it was the Sanctioned heroes who made its usage a neccessity. With their increasingly dangerous heists and daring escapes and battles that left some combatants wounded and dead, the authorities put out a bounty on Nathan and his wife, which a part of The Vanguard under the leadership of Miss Memory came to collect upon. The two were subsequently captured and imprisoned.   While Nathan had always taken precaution to hide and destory evidence, leading to some charges against them to be dismissed, others were just too strong and the pair was sentenced to 1X years of prison at East Branch without the chance of parole.   As of 2023, Nathan remains incarcerated.

Intellectual Characteristics

Nathan sees himself as the underdog, one who does bad for good reasons without losing his moral compass. He tends to fool himself into thinking crime is his only option though. A kind and softspoken man who hides bruning determination behind an always smiling veneer, he values family above all else. His time in prison and subsequent separation from both his wife and daughter has made him reflect on his time as a Rogue and he has come to regret the consequences it has lead to. Once released, he wants to start anew properly.
