Battle in Wallace Street

The Battle in Wallace Street was a superpowered battle at a cinema in The Gutters in Cape St. Joan . Originally conceived by The Crew as an attack on Soma's Network, the battle was hijacked by vigilante team Disequilibria, ultimately resulting in the arrest of five rogues.   It marked the second superpowered battle for Disequilibria and the first major fight in their attempts to combat the local superpowered gangs.   In the wake of the battle, The Crew would declare 'war' on Disequilibria.

The Conflict

Prelude

The battle was first planned as a Crew-only attack on a drug kitchen of Soma's Network in an abandoned cinema in The Gutters. Originally planning to hit a Crew hideout in their ongoing campaign against Cape St. Joan's criminals, Disequilibria decided to co-opt this scheme when they learned of it during an extensive surveilance operation of an uncovered Crew hideout. Natasha Torlopova argued to go on the offense when both sides had exhausted each other at the end of the battle.

Deployment

The Crew moved out on the evening of the 30th of April. Disequilibria arrived at the location prior to their forces and hid nearby. At the time of the attack, the drug kitchen was defended by three Network rogues and the drug kitchen's 'employees'.

Battlefield

The battle took place in and around an old abandoned cinema at 547 Wallace Street in The Gutters.

The Engagement

After an initial attack at the cinema's entrance, fighting between Crew and Network quickly moved inside the cinema. While the attackers managed to take out most of the unpowered defenders, Ocypete was quickly wounded by Copycat, who employed Backdraft's power set against the Crew rogues. After Backdraft aided Ocypete, Copycat destoryed one of the outer walls to retreat, with Ocypete chasing her down. Meanwhile, Backdraft and Weatherman engaged Hooker and Moonwalk in combat. Outpaced by Copycat, Ocypete was stunned with a drug grenade and left behind by Copycat who quickly returned to the cinema.   At this point, Disequilibria engaged and took out the dazed Ocypete. Not wanting to meddle in the fighting until absolutely neccessary, the vigilantes decided to instead trap the rogues inside the cinema. Astraeus began contstructing a large titanium wall around the building. This went unnoticed by all by Jubjub, Moonwalk and Copycat.   Copycat quickly climbed to the cinema's first floor and blew up further outer walls, trying to make a jump over the rising titanium wall from her higher vantage point. However, she was shot down mid-air by a chasing Weatherman. Moonwalk quickly teleported to the outer side of the wall and tried to engage Disequilibria in combat, with Weatherman quickly following. Meanwhile, Hooker defeated Backdraft inside the cinema.   After defeating Weatherman and forcing Moonwalk to retreat back inside the building, the vigilantes prevented Copycat from scaling the wall, trapping her, Hooker, Moonwalk, Backdraft and Ocypete inside. Weatherman was knocked out and restrained outside, while Jubjub made an attempt to leap from the second floor over the wall on the far side of the building. While he made the jump, he broke his legs in the attempt, rendering him unable to flee.

Outcome

The battle lead to multiple arrests amongst members of both The Crew and Soma's Network. Arrested on the Crew's side were Backdraft, Ocypete, Jubjub and Weatherman, while from the Network only Hooker was captured, while Copycat and Moonwalk managed to flee the scene after Disequilibria retreated.

Aftermath

The victory against both Crew and Network at the same time would lead to an all-out declaration of war on the vigilantes by the hard-hit Crew. It also destabilised the Harbour, as the Crew was left with fewer supers to enforce their will, forcing the gang to further their recruitment efforts.
