Zennai
Avoid their trees, move quickly and you will survive. That is, unless you let the storm take you.
When attempting a crossing of the great plains everyone will provide reminders to avoid the trees. The reason for this is that the Zennai have made them their home and territory.
Very little is known about these birds as the only time when one would spend time near the birds is when crossing the plains and that is when haste is required in order to stay in front of the phase storms.
About once or twice per year a bird is managed to be shot down with an arrow in such a way that it lands in the sailcraft as it travels, which is always a great find for scientists trying to understand the Zennai. The results are not very helpful in making the crossing safer though.
Shooting down a bird can be dangerous as the rest of the flock sill attempt to go on a counter attack, possibly harming people or worse, damaging the sails on the craft, which would doom everyone on board.
Basic Information
Ecology and Habitats
The Zennai can be found in the great plains. They operate in flocks no larger than can fit onto the trees scattered around. They operate in relatively small areas, constantly guarding their territory.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The birds are believed to live off animals that come up to the surface, but it is not clear if this is their only food source or if they also feed on plant matter.
Biological Cycle
Since they are birds it is assumed that they lay eggs, presumably in the trees that they call home, but no nest has ever been found.
