Orcs to the North
Cultists to the South
General Summary
Here we are caught in a riddle of truths.
Lil kindly gifts me a strange looking bottle. I was a little unsure of it’s contents, but she assures me it’s just Superior Healing, and that it’s definitely not creepy.
We all have a chat with Veken Bonesmasher, the former lover of our victim. They work for the department of Health and Safety they tell us. From the stench on their breath we are confident our next question will be met with approval:
“Shall we go find a pub and have a drink?”
Veken tells us a bit about the leader of the Health and Safety officers, one Maroj Bouldersmasher. Sounds like a nasty piece of work to my ears. Maybe we should go find them in the mines and lean on them a little, see what they know.
Once again my idea is shunned in favour of trying to find the village that Carrowan and Goldrum had been active in recently – Reedmill.
I mean, that is a pretty good plan too.
I ask Graz on our journey about Eastwatch. I’ll keep that information close to my chest, might be a bit of the old cloak and daggerings going on there?
The tie-died, happy-go-lucky dwarves of Reedmill are nothing like those that we left in the Forgehome mountains. Flowers in their hair and a seemingly genuine like for tourists. We decide to sample their local delicacy; Mushroom and Ale pie. I like it. Zima refuses, he’s probably had enought mushrooms already today. We later find out that this ‘delicacy’ is in fact some kind of mild obsession of Bukkles (the town guard we met). I don’t care if it’s some weird tourist-trap pie or practical joke, the thing tasted a lot better than dry rations.
We stay the night in the Inn. We learn about the houses of Carrowan and of Goldrum from the Mayor (Drafty Cloudblotcher). He seems like a useful contact, much more pleasant that Big Dave of Watersmeet. We hear a tale of how his daughter, Breezy, went missing recently. A cult compound of some sort near the swamps just to the south I think he said. (I’m pretty sure Lil was taking notes). If we bring back Breezy then Drafty will be happier than a dry leaf in an autumnal wind, and will reward us with something or other. Sounds like a solid plan, and well, we might find Carrowan at this place too. Which I seem to recall being important to the murder mystery,
