Carry On Carrowan

General Summary

The watery sunlight shone down on the courtyard of a large stone temple. Cherry blossoms fell in the crisp, cool air. The only sounds, the rhythmic “shush-shush” of a broom. Interrupted by a hacking cough.

As we draw closer, a pleasant baritone can be heard. Two figures can be seen. A young woman in a grubby white robe is sweeping the immaculate courtyard floor. There is an old man with a bald head and a robe that shines snow white in the sun laying on a bench. A bent, yellowing, roll-up is perched in his thin lips.

“The sea air has always agreed with me, right? So, I lay back on the warm stone wall on the shorefront and took a moment to gather my thoughts. There’s a lot going on and a lot to keep track of. The sound of the surf crashing, the birds caw-ing. The scent of salt and seaweed and, unfortunately, old fish. It was quite the day for it. I saw them arrive on their boat and make their weary way to the pub. After a bit, their friend left. The alluring one in the hat. I wonder if they know about her? I let them finish up. After what they’d been through, I felt they deserved a decent drink.

I picked them up on their way out, and took them on a little detour to the Feywild. We needed some privacy and I don’t trust none of these buggers round here. I got them caught up on the situation, gave them the spiel, you know, a bit of a history lesson. Right? History lesson? Please yourself. Anyway, Soul Wars and all that. Don’t give me that look. They could have picked it up anywhere.

After making sure we were all on the same page, I sent them on their merry way back to deal with Orebound. I told them. Don’t kill the bugger. Bring him to justice. I don’t know how they took that. One of them, the big lug with the ponytails, looked like he was about to rip him apart there and then. They caught up with him of course. Now the bugger’s a turtle. See how he likes that. They’re heading back to Forgehome with him. Glad I’m not in his shoes. Boots. Shell. Whatever. He’s in for a rough go of it. Not that he deserves pity, mind. Not after what he done.

Still though. A turtle? I nearly wet myself!

Anyway, this is why it’s important to stay involved with the mortal world. Otherwise, we’d never have realised that the entirety of existence was under threat. Oh, and you’ve missed a bit. No, to your left. No, YOUR left. Just there. Never mind. Give me the broom. Youth today. I don’t know. In my day, you did a job like that, the Abbott would have your pungk’s on a trang before the dust had settled. You practice the forms. You’re technique is improving but it could be better.”
