The Servants of Wind

Since the Era of Establishment, the incredible and unrivaled power of the Devic race in Dioya has hinged on one thing above all else, unity. It was unity and loyalty to one’s own species that allowed the Deva to thrive during the Era of Establishment, through war and other conflict. It was unity and loyalty that transformed the Devic Empire to the Devic Order, harkening the Era of Order. If the Deva are anything, they are united. United to each other, United to the Devic Order, and United to their leader, The Will of the Stars. But what happens when a Deva does not conform. What happens when a Deva steps outside the lines that are drawn by the Order?     During The Era of Change’s Great Disturbance, many new religions arose after the BiDivine Champion of Galaxa made herself known before the then newly established League of Every Organized Nations. Religions like The Formless God and The Painted Men were birthed from the shockwave revelation that there was more to the BiDivine than just belief. While many religions were born from this, The Servants of The Wind had existed for quite some time, but they were pushed to become more bold in their existence. The Servants of The Wind are an organized reformation of those who worship Dresdar, the infernal god of Wind and Air. The leader of the Servants of Wind is a Deva known as Atar. Atar served in the Devic Order of Progress’ Facility 3 during the late Era of Establishment as a researcher of the Mortal Domestication Project along with fellow Order of Progress member Hiran and the Fey demigod. All throughout Atar’s life, he felt as if his magical powers were a step above his equals, but never really focused on it, opting instead to suppress his magical abilities for the sake of burying himself in his work. After almost an entire lifetime of researching, Atar’s magical abilities still continued to grow, resulting in wind coming from his mouth as he spoke, constant airflow coming from his body, and his feet to never touch the ground. Atar had a relationship with air, he just refused to acknowledge it until the destruction of Facility 3. In his historic fit of rage, Arai made his escape from Facility 3, but as he did, he revealed to Atar that he has probably been chosen by Dresdar in some way. Without a place to call home and with his life’s word destroyed, Atar wandered into the woods of Nirvania to die. But Atar did not find death, instead he found refugees from Facility 3. At first, the refugees were afraid of Atar, but the Aaracokra of the group recognized him as touched by Dresdar, another affirmation for Atar. Atar lived with the refugees and eventually, he learned to trust them and they trust him. All this time, Atar finally learned how to harness and use his incredible wind based powers. Atar eventually lived long past the normal life expectancy of a Deva, eventually crossing into the threshold of twice as long as the average Deva. As time passed, these Refugees built a small community lead by Atar, this community eventually became a small religion who worshipped Atar as a prophet of the god of wind. Eventually, during the Era of Change’s Great Disturbance, news of Galaxa’s presence reached the Servants of Wind. Atar felt emboldened by this news and became more public with recruiting new members of the religion, believing himself not to be a Prophet, but Dresdar’s Champion. This caught the attention of the Will of Stars, resulting in the decimation of the religion by the Devic Order of Corrections, lead by Sentinal Noryid. Little is known about if The Servants of Wind are still alive. There are tales that while Atar was certainly killed during the attack, many believe that Atar was reincarnated by the Fey Arai. This reincarnation was brought back as an inconspicuous child.

Tenets of Faith

The tenants of The Servants of Wind are quite simple, but in the eyes of the Devic Order, radically against the core beliefs of the institution. Atar preaches that while Dresdar has chosen him to be his champion, like the wind, they must push and pull each other up to be above others who worship Infernal gods. Atar’s word states that wind pushes but is not pushed, wind pulls but it is not pulls, wind rises but it does not fall. If one is to serve Atar, they must serve themselves and each other. Servants of Wind are taught minor wind-based magic, with every member proficient in using boomerangs to fight. Servants of Wind are taught to move silently and, if it is possible, to never touch the ground when they walk. The influence of a Devic-like superiority complex within the values of the Servants of Wind are understandable due to the religion being founded by an Ex-Order of Progress member.
