Arni-Faelin / Fera / The Minotaur's Forest

Moss covered pillars, flesh picked skeletons, rotten doors sealed shut by creeping Ivy that crawls from building to building make up the abandoned, but very much alive settlement known only to the Deva as Arni-Faelin; The Wild Village. What once was a thriving, growing village of animalistic humanoid races, is now and has been for hundreds of years, a ruin of overgrown flourishing plants and miscellaneous wildlife.     While the wild of Nirvania is truly unchecked by the ruling Devic Order, there is much to be said about Arni-Faelin, whose plants are so green and so vibrant, one would have a better time believing they come from the southern Clansplains than the brisk north. This abundance of greenery have lead many to become curious of the ruin, but few to travel out of fear of a fate similar to those who lived in it long ago.   Commoner Deva, High Elves, and the few other races who are old enough to remember Arni-Faelin, recall its inabhitants as ‘barbaric looking’ and ‘uncivilized’ creatures who looked more animal than humanoid. Whether this is Elvan and Devic prejudice or not remains to be seen; but the skeletons in the overgrown houses and those pinned to the ground in standing positions scattered around the forest ruins do have deformed, yet familiar skeletal systems that vary from races such as the Tabaxi, Lizardfolk, and Minotaur. These corpses, free of any flesh thanks to the healthy amount of insect life in Arni-Faelin all share the same mortal wounds from plants grown from the ground, through the hearts of each body, and out the back of the corpses. What force of nature killed those who lived in the forest. Why? Answers may exist, but have yet to be found. Few travelers walk the footpaths of the continent of Nirvania, fewer find themselves in The Wild Village. Those who have, report of hearing noises come from the ground at night, howls, screeches, and other such animalistic cries, like echoes of those who lived in Arni-Faelin before. While some believe these cries to be ghosts, others more keen to the history of the Beastial Races in Nirvania have told even more sinister tales.     It is no mystery that Nirvania’s ruling Deva have experimented on the other races of Dioya. The firm belief that they are the closest to the BiDivine gods has lead them to conduct experiments and test grim theories on innocent beings. It’s also no mystery that the Deva choose the bestial races of Dioya for their most disturbing works. Perhaps the similarly long abandoned Devic Facility #3, just miles west of Arni-Faelin has a fate tied with Arni-Faelin. Maybe the relationship between the two seemingly forgotten locations has dire and direct meaning. After all, if the Deva know how to do anything, it’s cover up their mistakes.   During the events of The Great Disturbance, the Minotaur Dioyan Druid, Fasvera Greenleaf placed a curse on the ruins of the Devic Order Facility 3 located below Arni-Faelin that caused massive amounts of Noosevine plants to grow and completely overtake the surrounding area. After time, the ruins of Facility 3 and Arni-Faelin mixed together and the jungle surrounding the ruins were renamed, The Minotaur's Jungle.   Arni-Faelin still exists deep in The Minotaur's Jungle, but what used to be the ruins of a forgoten town of experiments is now a rendered, overgrown reminder that no matter how powerful magic and science can be, nature always finds a way to survive.       AGD:     After the Great Disturbance, The Minotaur's Jungle grew into a massive forest that encompasses most of the northern Devic Order territory, in The Minotaur's Jungle, a group of Were-Folk, experiments from Devic Facility #3 known as The Force of Nature learned to live among the Noosevines.

Geography

With a single source of fresh water that tastes so clean, one could assume it’s filtered with magic, the rest of Arni-Faelin is a lush forest with active ecosystems of moth and fauna that is covered by a dense canopy.

Fauna & Flora

The fauna of Arni-Faelin is abundant and freshly grown. When sapling and sprout samples have been taken out of the proximity of the forest ruin, the plant life has died quite quickly leading many to believe there is some sort of untraceable or foreign magical energy that keeps the plants fresh and alive. Arni-Faelin is one of the few locations in Dioya to have naturally growing Goodberries, Noosevines, and Sourskin grapes, plants considered to originally be from the Faywild, Sovaga.

Natural Resources

The scope of natural resources in Arni-Faelin is limited to only the reports left by those who have dared to travel through. The trees surely produce plenty of wood, though the lumber created by the trees is so lush and alive, they take days to dry out. Other rescores, like Goodberry plants, Sourskin Grapes, and more have only been picked and reported loosely by passers by.
