Green Thumb

A very dry and over-explanatory tome about gardening. Like a gardening for dummies.   This book is great for the average person to learn better techniques in growing gardens or taking care of most gardening needs.   It also goes a bit into most (not all) of that found on Plants   Simple recipe to brew a potion of Healing using readily available herbs and plants.
  • Need: Access to the healing spell cure wounds for each day of crafting.
  • varies gp worth of materials found in most markets (look to herbalist or related stores) (having this book you can go into almost any forest and after every 1 full day (at least 8 hours) collect 25 gp worth of materials. For every hour uninterrupted you will find enough to replace 2gp worth, so if you are on the move and take a short rest)
  • varies full day worth of uninterrupted crafting time
  • Be at least 3rd level, higher for better ones
  • Have an alchemy or herbalist kit (without proficiency, this is done with the kit at -5 for every level of potion and at disadvantage, as well as taking 2x as long -- so proficiency comes in handy, but not impossible for someone without.)

    History

Shadow reads from the Green Thumb book, they found a "simple recipe" to brew a Healing Potion, learned a lot about the Plants of Dierde. There was also a bunch of strange symbols that will help a Druid learn a new cantrip, Decompose.   Sas then takes over the Green Thumb and learns Decompose.

Sas thinks she might want to see what Books are in the library, as well as remembers they have the Green Thumb and the Journal of a Botanist. She does find The Alchemist's Laboratory: A Guide to Brewing Potions for Profit and Adventure, (This book is more about alchemy, but there is a lot of crossover that would help as it does go into Potion brewing, different types and processes of Potion making. Over time it might show some recipes.) She didn't spend much time on the book as Shadow reminded her about the Journal, so she looked into that book which seemed more aligned. It has various notes on flora and fauna, personal notes especially about himself - Chlyoris. He is known for the bottles he has created. Chlyoris grew up in a small village, and from a young age was fascinated by the natural world around him. As he grew older, he began to take commissions to capture creatures and Plants, which he preserved in his magic jars. He has since traveled the world, seeking out new and interesting creatures and Plants to study and collect — Journal of a Botanist The book also seems to go a bit into the crystals and reading between the lines it seems possible one could use the book to create these crystals. They would need to find a lost spell called Soul Gem. It also spoke of a client, Emmerick who was the one who commissioned the creatures they found in the bag and how he was to contact the client. (There is also notes on how a client, named Emmerick had hired him to capture the creatures (beholder, Displacer Beast, Fomorian, Ettercap, and a pixie) it also says when all are captured he is to go to Wideberth and leave a Message on the job board at The Yawning Portal (instructions on what should be posted). Whereas he will be met w/in 24 hours of the posting and a trade for 25,0000 gp would be made.)

This book was read by Shadow in the Snow while hiding in Jacoby Drexelhand's Hideout   Author is Hyouro, some druid who doesn't offer more than his name.   It is in the possession of The Menagerie and was found Session 05: New Member Report in Jacoby Drexelhand's workstation under the Outding Refuge Church.
