Vex Chaput (a.k.a. Poisoned Dagger, Venn Cerises, Vielle Chancery)

Little is known about him or his past, beyond his current affiliation with the Verresel Thieves' Guild.
Vex has been a member of the Verresel Thieves' Guild for the past three years. In that time, he has established himself as incredibly difficult to work with, refusing to form any form of attachment with the parties that hire his services. Nevertheless, the Guild acknowledges him as one of the, if not the, most talented Guild members, and he tends to take many of the most critical jobs.
During those times Vex is not actively engaged in a quest, he spends his time gathering information for the Guild, with a strong focus on the records of Beauchêne Wizards' College. His repository of data is said to be nearly as complete as the College's own records.
Vex is of average height, with dusty purple skin and a pair of slightly angled horns. His hair is straight and dyed a shiny black, and it reaches down just past his shoulders. His ears are pointed and stick directly out to the sides. He is always seen wearing a black cloak, and he wears an earring in his left ear made of twisted metal. The earring has been noted to resemble an ampersand.
Vex's personality has been described at various times as difficult, caustic, and uncaring. He holds everyone at arm's length, seemingly out of a belief that he runs less risk of betrayal or abandonment if he does not form personal connections. Frequently, this is accomplished through hostility and insults.
In truth, Vex seeks out connections, but is too afraid of losing them to grow close to anyone. He is a hardworking individual, and despite his facade he cares about people with ease, putting others' needs above his own. He has a strong moral compass, position in the Thieves' Guild notwithstanding, and refuses to harm anyone without reason.

Vex possesses a Cloak of Shadows—an enchanted artifact that allows the wearer to become invisible by standing in shadow and putting the hood up. Even without the hood, the cloak and its wearer appear slightly transparent. As such an artifact is normally sold for a high price, it is unknown where he obtained it.
