The Cogs

As far above ground as Sharn's towers stretch, they also sink deep into the earth. There, in the darkness just above the sewers of Sharn, the Cogs play home to the great foundries and factories on which the Brelish economy relies. The air of the Cogs is forever stained with soot and the acrid tang of noxious alchemical reagents, while the light never varies from the dim twilight of everbright lanterns strung haphazardly throughout the area. Anyone who can afford to live elsewhere in Sharn does so, leaving to the Cogs who who can't.
Little wonder, then, that the highest population of forged and kith in Sharn all live in the Cogs. The former mostly make their homes in the district of Blackbones in the eastern part of the city, while the latter occupy Khyber's Gate just below Central Tower. To the west of Sharn, Ashblack is split roughly in half, with the northern half belonging to House Cannith and the rest belonging to various industrial concerns in the city.
