Godzimir Ursaak
10th Legion Warmonger
Medusan born, Ursaak was initially viewed as an aggressive warrior, but unsuitable for large scale command. He would lead his fellow Gorgon terminators on assaults which were not calculated to have optimum chances of success.
During the Great Crusade it became apparent that the success rate of the squad was a statistical anomaly, and attracted the attention of senior commanders.
As well as demonstrating an extreme resilience to the artifice of foes who would seek to weaken them, it was also discovered that Ursaak's second in command, Morad Krysk, had a level of latent psychic powers which aided him in predicting the best time to strike. Krysk was assigned to the Librarius to study if his gifts could be used on a larger scale conflict by the legion.
001.M31 The Tenth faced difficulties on 154-4 against the Eldar, who used their seers' visions to avoid a direct war. Ferrus tasked Ursaak with creating new protocols and force structures to fight a foe unwilling to engage in standard lines of battle. The protocols advised multiple directions of unpredictable attack and psychic defences provided by Imperial agents such as the Sisters of Silence and Officio Assassinorum. In addition, Ursaak requested that Krysk be reassigned to his task group. Despite the recent Edict of Nikaea, Ferrus granted it for this experiment.
006.M31 Immediately prior to Istvaan V Ursaak's group has been operating in smaller expeditionary groups alongside elements from the Raven Guard and Alpha Legion, to learn more about their approach to indirect warfare tactics. On arrival at Istvaan they found their Primarch dead, their legion broken and extracted as many survivors as possible.
