Elementals all used to be mindless Golems, conjured as young Witches' familiars. Beings of pure elemental magic, Golems are entirely controlled -albeit usually unconsciously- by their masters.
In some rare cases, given that Golems are unaffected by age, they can develope enough of their own strength to remain coalescent after their original summoner's death. In such cases they either run rampant without any thought or reason, as simply incarnate element, or they slowly develope a sentience of their own. In the latter case, they can become a full member of the Divided as they have their own soul and consciousness.
They tend to take small, vaguely humanoid forms composed entirely of their element. With some of them, this makes them dangerous to touch, but they are able to control it to a degree such that they don't constantly destroy their surroundings.
Physical Attributes and Appearance
Given that they are beings of pure magic, Elementals don't have many defined physical characteristics. They are able to dissipate or manifest at will, though the exact method by which their soul retains consciousness and cohesion with their bodies is not fully known, change the shape of their body to their will, and even -usually- suppress the more dangerous aspects of their component element.
Elementals are made entirely of one of the magical elements, which they tend to shape into a small vaguely humanoid body, though this is far from a rule.
Magical Attributes and Skill
Elementals are nearly perfect at using their own component element, but almost incapable of most others. They are also quite good at Teleportation, Telekinesis, and Transfiguration. Aside from those, they are average or slightly worse at most forms of magic.
Their spiritual reserves, which compose their entire being, are exceptional, and their regeneration and control over magic are very impressive as well. They are a bit resistant to magic, save for those elements that directly oppose their own, to which they are quite vulnerable.
Elementals are only killed if their spiritual reserves are entirely drained, in which case a small core of raw element is left behind. This can be easily destroyed, unbinding their soul from their body and killing them.
Senses and Perception
Elementals percieve the world entirely through magic, though the exact ways this relates to how other Divided experience it is far from understood. They don't particularly see, smell, hear, taste, or touch things as they simply percieve the magical frameworks that make up various sensations.
Genetics and Reproduction
Elementals are unable to reproduce.
Growth and Lifespan
When originally creates as a golem, Elementals' form is set in -stone feels a poor word choice here- writing. Aside from any changes their summoner chooses to make, their 'body' will not change in any way as time passes. If one survives past its creator's passing, their consciousness begins to grow.
This takes some time, and in some cases will lead to a golem simply becoming wild with pure elemental destruction. However, it is occasionally possible for an Elemental to be born instead. In such cases, over several decades, an intelligence forms within them and they 'wake up' one day with the approximate mental maturity of a young teen, and odd flashes of memories from both their previous life and their creator's to guide them.
Naming Traditions
Elementals tend to keep the names their summoners gave them when they were still mere Golems. Since they are typically summoned by very young witches, these names are often quite silly.
Culture and Customs
Elementals don't really have a unified culture, since they're not necessarily even from the same region or origin.
Dietary Needs
Elementals do not need to eat.
Etiquette Tips
Be careful when approaching an Elemental, and try not to startle them. While they're not violent by nature, their forms require concentration to maintain, and even more focus to keep from harming those around them.
General Opinion
Elementals are typically considered to be dangerous, both because of the more common incidents of wild golems causing havoc, and because the raw elemental magic that makes up their bodies can cause severe harm and damage if not controlled properly.
Fun Elemental Fact!
Elementals are perfectly capable of letting their elemental power run amok and destroy things like its natural form would, and in fact not doing so is a considerable effort for them.
