Personal History

Your Name:
Gnomes love names, and most have half a dozen or so. A gnome’s mother, father, clan elder, aunts, and uncles each give the gnome a name, and various nicknames from just about everyone else might or might not stick over time. Gnome names are typically variants on the names of ancestors or distant relatives, though some are purely new inventions. When dealing with humans and others who are “stuffy” about names, a gnome learns to use no more than three names: a personal name, a clan name, and a nickname, choosing the one in each category that’s the most fun to say.

Alston, Alvyn, Boddynock, Brocc, Burgell, Dimble, Eldon, Erky, Fonkin, Frug, Gerbo, Gimble, Glim, Jebeddo, Kellen, Namfoodle, Orryn, Roondar, Seebo, Sindri, Warryn, Wrenn, Zook
Female:
Bimpnottin, Breena, Caramip, Carlin, Donella, Duvamil, Ella, Ellyjobell, Ellywick, Lilli, Loopmottin, Lorilla, Mardnab, Nissa, Nyx, Oda, Orla, Roywyn, Shamil, Tana, Waywocket, Zanna
  Clan Names:
Beren, Daergel, Folkor, Garrick, Nackle, Murnig, Ningel, Raulnor, Scheppen, Timbers, Turen   Nicknames:
Aleslosh, Ashhearth, Badger, Cloak, Doublelock, Filchbatter, Fnipper, Ku, Nim, Oneshoe, Pock, Sparklegem, Stumbleduck
  Where you grew up:
Gnomes are industrious people, which means they tend to settle within larger settlments or cities. There's a good chance you were born and grew up in one of the major cities of Ankroth. There are times when gnomish families strike out on their own in order to focus on specific tasks or research. In these instances other races typically follow along and start to build up a community around whatever projects are being worked on by that family.
  Who are your parents:
Your parents are always around. Gnomish families are typically very close and are excited by the chance to help teach and pass on their discoveries and capabilities to the next generation. You probably have some siblings who are usually your first friendly rivalries. Love for craft and love for kin are strong within the gnomish community.
  What is your status:
Stature varies widely when it comes to Gnomes. Some gnomish families are among the richest in the continent. Generations of invention and development allow for the continuation of success within long noble lines. On the flip side not all inventions succeed. Some gnomes become so obesessed with the need to see their vision come to light they allow themselves to fall to squalor.
  Why did you leave:
Family ties are strong to be sure, but the need for individual success is an incredible drive for young gnomes. It's rare that you find a gnome that is willing to rest on their family's laurels, especially because most times their families eventually start to force them out the door. Whether it be to complete a project left by another, invent something brand new, or to discover new knowledge, gnomes continually travel and explore.
