The Mistros Invasion
The Avarnian invasion into Cobalt Isle territory of their Mistros Island Campaignis a matter of serious insult to the Sea and Land Captains of the Isles. Not only have the foreign imperialist armies of a foreign power trampled their way across a significant portion of Mistros Isle and slaughtered countless native people living there. But they have also ignored the ancient traditions of land ownership of The Isles. The strictly regimented lifestyle the Avarnian army has enforced over the occupied people has broken the sacred balance between law and freedom that remains a significant part of Cobalt culture.
It is unsuprising the almost all the citizens of The Cobalt Isles have taken issue with the destruction Avarniom is enacting on their lands, culture and people. Many of the young captains and warriors of The Isles have been ready to charge into the fire the moment they heard the first news of the invasions. However older and wiser captains and leaders know their response needs to be significant and organised enough or failure against the imperialist nation will be the only outcome.
Currently the common consensus is that Captain Brook Thorn is the best hope for The Isles survival. The fleet she has amassed is already impressive but she has not signaled that she is ready to attack yet. She has recently been organising the purchase of Avarnian weapons that are being smuggled out of the Mistros Isle garrison's armories. Every few weeks her ships have been ambushing alone and isolated Avarnian ships, taking the superior warships as prizes to add to their fleet.
All signs are currently pointing to a massive confrontation between Captain Thorn and Admiral Lawrence Aldbourne, the entirety of The Cobalt Isles and Avarniom seem to be ready and waiting for the result, but Thorn has proven reluctant to commit yet. The various leaders of the Isles are growing nervous knowing that if she waits too much longer she will start to lose support and the fleet she has brought together will shatter with no achievements to its name.
