The Mistros Island Campaign

Over the past few decades, the Avarniom Council has been looking further abroad in seeking of wealth and hospitable land to build colonies. Their most successful colony, and largescale invasion, to date was the Invasion of Mistros Island in The Cobalt Isles. Early in the Year of 853, the many ports of the northern and eastern coast of Mistros Island found themselves blockaded by a huge fleet of warships flying the black and gold flag of Avarniom. Unaware of hostilities the pirates and lords of the isles readied to ram and board the enemy fleet. However once on the water the Avarniom ships fired and over the next two hours almost all of the ships in the harbours were sunk or captured.   The ships sailed into the ports and fired their cannons levelling towns and claiming a mustering point for the infantry to prepare. As the ports were claimed the ships turned to defence of waters and shipping lanes with startling effectiveness. The infantry made a public show of their weaponry everywhere they went in shooting protestors and those attempting to fight back with bitter ruthlessness.   It soon became clear once the first Avarniom settlers arrived that the previous inhabitants of Mistros were not going to be welcoming. In response to this a militia army was mustered to remove the foreign invader, but the Avarniom army acted strategically and without remorse and laid waste to the army of commoners. Their homes were raided and in one of the most famous military atrocities to date, the executive order came from Admiral Aldbourne himself to execute all Mistros civilians remaining in Avarniom claimed lands. Leaving them as the undisputed rulers.   The only reason Avarniom stopped their advance and doesn’t own the entire Island today is because they had stretched their supply lines too far already, and a convenient ransom tithe was offered by a powerful pirate lord for them to stop their march. Since this, Avarniom arms have slowly been creeping onto the Cobalt Isle’s black market, though these tend to be the early form of the first generation of muskets. Currently Avarniom seems to be holding fast on their present positions, many of the materials they had built up to completely conquer the island were diverted to the Ill fated Olancian Campaign where they were lost. Though the Avarnian Army is still planning an attack to further their hold over Mistros.
