Salvation

"Far in the North of Sun'Ashar, the lands which touched the coldest waters, lies a cold land, flat and vast. Dark conifer forests mark the South, and shadows grow deeply there, while the Northern reaches of the Colossal's Spine reach up to the skies above."
~The Account of Nations

Geography

The Western border of the land is dominated by the mountains of the Colossal's Spine, from which flows fresh water as the winter thaws. To the North are the most northern shores of the continent, stony and frigid. In the South, there grows the Velkyrian Woods, and between all these borders lies a flat tundra, which is stark and barren in the winter. Amid this open land, on the approach to the Colossal's Spine, there are many hills that rise up, and upon one of these was built the city of Saluët. Though it is a harsh land, it is largely wild and unmarred by any hands, and its beauty is difficult to match.

Fauna & Flora

The plants that grow here are tough, and work with very little usable soil. Conifer trees dominate the forested lands, and berry bushes grow beneath. Beyond the borders of the woods, there are hardy mosses and lichens which form much of the ground cover. Bears of various kinds inhabit the region, of which large white predators are the most intimidating and ferocious. Borealan wolves often stalk into the region during the Summer, to hunt the vast herds of prey that gather upon the plains.

Natural Resources

The Colossal's Spine in this region is rich in copper and iron, and both limestone and shale are quarried in this region. From the Velkyrian Woods, lumber is harvested; the forest is dominated by conifers, such as spruce and pine. Birch trees also grow in the forest, but some villages maintain them as sacred near the Southern border, and they are not felled as often as the others. Great herds of caribou migrate throughout the region, and are hunted for their meat and skins, as are the solitary moose. Though not natural, there are many troves and caches of treasures throughout the region, which were left abandoned by the Sun'Shönai during the War of Blight, which house great stores of their works of art and warfare, and many Arcane artifacts and tomes of forgotten knowledge.
