Amelia ‘The Siren’
The Siren Merminmihria (Mer-men-my-ria) (a.k.a. Amelia)
Born on (Selkie Island) on Exen 27th, 327 Tempest Age, Merminmihria (Amelia is the name she uses with humans) was always very extroverted, deriving abnormal enjoyment from talking to others—especially from those she had never met before. Despite this apparent friendliness, she was also manipulative, and was skilled at getting others to do as she wanted. Haggling free food, obtaining small favors, and always slipping out of blame, most in her colony knew of Amelia's doings. But though they wisened up to her tricks, many still regarded her positively for her apparent niceness. Knowing her favor would run dry if she kept pressing her community, Amelia turned to pressing the rare human merchants that passed through the area. Over several years she conversed with several, growing facinated by the prospect of humanity. Despite the warnings of her parents, Amelia elected to leave the sanctuary to traverse the Great Storm's islands.
“That woman... I'm tellin' ye now, something ain't right 'bout her. She smiles so sweetly, talks like she cares about 'veryone in the world, but those eyes... they're beauts, I'll say that much—but they don' smile like her lips do. Not at all. They 'old wrath and spite in em.”
So the song begins, thus she spreads her finsOn Tel 2nd, 345 TA, Amelia arrived at Reylux after smuggling aboard a departing merchant ship. She managed to secure a stay by telling the workers she was a lost and tired traveler, gaining their trust with humor and feigned humility. She stayed for around a week, without paying a single Gallion (not that she had any), before moving on to Port Brimsey, followed by Horizoncliff. On each island, she managed to secure a place to stay, and left with most holding amicable feelings for her. This was until she made the grave error of traveling to Artima.
A tale of journey, to a world lacking of mercy
Traverse did she, to a land seemingly wild and freeAmelia, while exploring the island, left her sealskin down at the beach, as she usually did. But unlike the other islands she had visited, there existed no regulations or laws on Artima discouraging the abuse of Selkies. In fact, Artima held several workshops, plantations, and other industries ran by captive Selkies. Amelia had the misfortune to have her pelt taken by the servant of one such owner by the name of Mrs. () Airaday. The binding magic of a Selkie's pelt causes unimaginable discomfort, dread, and pain should one try and leave it in peril. To the point where doing so is nearly impossible even for the stoutest of mind. Amelia, not even remotely prepared for such a possibility, rashly swore to do anything to get her sealskin back, as many Selkies unfortunately do. As a result, she was made a laborer.

Physical Description
Body Features
Beautiful—this is how virtually anyone would describe Amelia, at least referring to her exterior presentation. Her form is feminine, softly rounded and with more mass on her lower body than her upper. Pale and flawless, her skin bears no blemish besides long, straight scars on her back; wounds from her late master’s leather whip. Hair of gold like the setting sun’s shine on the ocean’s waves runs down to her hip, silky and with a slight curl. Amelia is absolutely meticulous when it comes to the maintenance of her appearance, and is known for spending multiple hours ensuring she remains naturally flawless.
Skin which gleamed like pearl,
Soft as the sea’s foam
Curved like the ocean’s waves
Her hair cascades down
Golden as the sun’s rays
Perfect was she
The beauty of the sea
Special abilities
Most Selkies have the ability to imbue magic into their songs to cause an effect on others, yet none are anywhere as potent as Amelia’s. Her singing can convince the most upright into acts of wickedness, and cause even the boisterous to collapse with despair. The exact source of this enhanced song is unknown, Amelia will claim it was a gift from the Sea Mother, but due to the fact that it was gained by salt water getting into an open wound, it may well be a sea curse. Those who suggest it may be a sea curse around Amelia tend to be on the receiving end of her controlling song more often than not.
“Such an angelic voice can cause no ill—that’s what I thought when I first heard her song.” She spoke bitterly. “First I would grant her small favors, but after but mere days, I was willing to do far more. Her voice enchants you, it clouds your judgement more than any alcohol. Do not allow yourself to listen to her song.”-Another Victim of The Siren’s Lure

Morality & Philosophy
Amelia is, to some extent, a hypocrite when it comes to her views of right and wrong. She absolutely despises the very idea of captivity, yet shows few qualms about utilizing her Siren’s song to bind others to her will. She is fully aware that her abilities influence other’s choices to her personal gain, yet avoids acknowledging how it parallels what she despises. If one were to ask her, she would state that enslavement is the single worst crime any could commit, above even murder. As one can also figure, she has few, if any, problems with slaying any who ever held Selkie slaves.
“I do not derive others of their will, they are still themselves, choosing to adhere to my song. Their actions benefit me because I convince them to, not because I force their hand.”-Amelia
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
The cause Amelia follows is to free her entire kind from the authority and control of humanity. Like many ideals, it is a noble cause in theory. Yet in practice will be a path soaked in blood of guilty and innocent alike.
Three hundred years
Endless tears
Though we have toiled
We yet remain foiled
For man still holds the reigns
Keeping us in chains Many are not free
Some have not the sea
Trapped on the land above
One so lacking of love Freedom rings, my dears
Worry not, for my wrath they shall fear
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Manipulation, even when magically induced, requires a variety of skillsets. Amelia is skilled at quickly understanding people’s desires, and swifter still to figure out how to exploit them. She also is good at guessing what approach to another will invoke the most sympathy, a skill she utilizes to stay out of trouble with authority. Despite how much danger Amelia gets herself into, she is not well-suited for combat. Her skills with a saber and flintlock are passable, but unextordinary, and she has neither the strength nor the natural finesse to win on her physicality alone. As such, Amelia generally avoids direct combat, preferring instead to have allies put wax in their ears before using her siren’s song to subdue foes.
“As an outlaw, I’ve had to develop numerous skills to survive. Having a true talent such as mine will get one far, but there are several other things one must learn.”-Amelia
