The Hells
The realm of the godless souls.
Structure
It is established that the Hells consist of multiple planes that exist in a semi-physical space next to each other while being a parallel plane to our own. The exact number of lower planes is highly debated but seems to be between 7 and 13.
While it is theoretically possible to conciously travel between our plane and the Hells, it requires an extreme amount of arcane energy or an immense amount of arcane focus in a person that hasn't been proven to be possible in a mortal.
Luckily the same seems to be true for demons with the exception for the highest overlords, who can seemingly manifest whenever they want.
Most information suggests that the planes that are "closer" to our plane seem to have established societies, similar to the ones of the mortal world. The further "down" one would move, the more desolated the enviornment gets.
History and Society
Little is known about the culture(s) or history of the lower planes.
The "higher" planes are said to have large cities with an somewhat anarchic power system, where "stronger" and more influential demons are considered "royalty". However this "royalty" can always be challenged by any contender strong enough.
"Lower" planes seem to follow the same system, however due to their more uninhabitable enviornment (even for demons it seems) the power seems to shift way more frquently as overlords are toppled more often.
As for the history of the hells, most seem to take the creation myth of the two titans at face value:
When the two titans fought each other, several planes (sometimes referred to as worlds) were ravaged and when the fight was over, the younger titan was sealed at the bottom of these planes, making its surroundings even more hellish.
Travel between the planes
It is understood that the main way to travel to the Hells is by transport of ones soul after death. The soul in question cannot be bound to a higher deity.
How that transport works and how a new body is formed is not known to scholars of our plane.
Another, but very unreliable way of full transportation are rifts between the planes. If those rifts are open both ways and where and when they open seems to be completely random and thus a dangerous phenomena to explore.
