Claw-fever

An illness that causes it's hosts to turn into a canine-like beasts every new-moon. The longer someone lives with this condition, the more often they turn into their beast-form, even outside moonless nights.
However there have been reports of people that learned to control this illness and transform at will.

Transmission & Vectors

The first known cases of claw-fever were reported as an effect of the wave.
The most common way of transmission is by being bitten or scratched by an infected person.

Symptoms

After an transmission the infected will suffer a very mild form of fever. About a week later they will become significantly more aggressive when interacting with anyone else.
At the first new-moon after the transmission the infected will transform into their beast-form for the first time and after that every new-moon. In their beast-form the infected can't control themselves and will attack anyone on sight. They will also feel extreme hunger for fresh meat.

Treatment

There is no know way to treat this disease after the first transformation. Before that it is possible to heal the patient with magic by a divine caster.
After the first transformation there is no way to heal an infected without killing them. Only a few very powerful wizards are rumored to be able to heal someone, who already transformed.

Hosts & Carriers

Anyone that survives the bite of an infected will become a host. There have been reports of several different species with this condition.
