Torrin dominated the Dawnrest Stewardship Election of 690, defeating his other opponents in the second round of the city-state's ranked-choice ballot system. This victory gave Torrin a clear mind on his way forward, that his policies of the previous 6 years had gained the peoples' approval.
  Through his first term, he made strong allies of the lower and middle classes, small business owners, and environmentalist factions. But he also made powerful enemies out of the elite merchant class, significant elements within his own powerful family, conservative factions, and the more radical elements of the industrialists.
