Captain Nicolay Richard Nonac (a.k.a. Nic)
General
Nicolay Nonac is an old man living a quite live in a remote village. He's badly scared by a fire accident from when he was working at a smithy as an apprentice. He's contributing to the village by being a storyteller. The village does not have a school, nor a teacher. So the stories from Nic are the only way the children of the village learn about the world around them. Nicolay is full of knowledge about the strangest things. What he did before he came to the village is not known.
Secret
In a former live Nicolay Nonac was an infantry captain in the army of the Kingdom of Haafy. Where he commanded the Lacarde Company, a ranger unit.
In the last stand of the Lacarde Company, he and his fellow rangers caused a forest fire to drive their enemy away. Something magical happened in this fire that stopped and prevented the rangers from dying in that moment, and ever after. Now 176 years later they are almost all still alive, unsure why they have been saved.
Daughter
His quite live is turned over when his daughter, the 178-year-old Half-Elf Aloise shows up, triggering some of the villages archaic anti Elf laws. Which forces the duo to go on the run.
Elise
Elise is the mother of Aloise, an old Elvish girlfriend of Nicolay. Whom he left when she tried to kill him.
Possesions
Captain Nonac still holds on to his ranger arms and armour. The green leather has been burned off, and his armour pieces are a very unusual bare metal, full of black soot marks. To some persons, his armour appears to glow, ranging from a dull dark red glow to a bright orange light. His daughter Aloise is one of the very few who see it as a bright light. A side effect from this is that his armour is always warm. Even after crossing a river swimming, he's dry a few steps later.
His sword will burst into flames when pulled from the scabbard.
