Ingald
Grown from the ancestral home of elves, Ingald is a generally tranquil community open to all in this chaotic time. While there is no rigid organization to life here, those of common interest tend to congregate. This led to the larger branches each having a unique culture and identity. The six most prominent branches are as follows, ordered by proximity to treetop:
- Branch of the Elders: Near the top of Ingald reside the oldest mortals of the world, some who even remember a time before the fog. They don't rule, but instead spend their days in quiet contemplation.
- Branch of the Song: Since losing their connection with the divine, many have become obsessed with honing innate magical ability. All ages and ancestries can be found "harmonizing" on this limb, creating wonderous spectacles and perfecting their craft.
- Branch of Knowledge: The more studious find solace in the great libraries. These structures house the accumulated knowledge of all races, preserving what could be saved from before the fog. There is much collaboration between these libraries and the universities in Balakotuvayi
- Branch of the Beast: The largest limb houses a refuge for animals. Not all have been able to adapt to life below the fog, so the people of Ingald take in what they can and give them a home. This branch also houses the mount trainers and their "steeds". It can take days to travel limb to limb on foot, so most use these specially trained mounts of various species.
- Branch of Friendship: This branch contains the docks, trading posts, inns, and all other amenities visitors need to feel welcome. The far end of the branch droops to fog level in order to accomodate the cloud runners.
- Branch of the Blade: Sitting just inside the fog, the lowest branch is a massive barracks and training area. The army stands ever vigilant, ready to defend from threats down below.
