Skrum

Quiet and reserved Skrum keeps to herself. She works as an apprentice in Tas Callum’s Brewery, largely because her dreams of becoming a legitimate, licensed alchemist were dashed when she was expelled from Polstetter’s Academy in 7 Towers. Official records indicate she set a fire that left 3 other students badly injured. Skrum, however, tells a different story, if she can be persuaded to talk. She claims that the fire was set by her peers and she tried to put it out. Ultimately, she was blamed because she is a goblin, classically stereotyped for being firebugs.

Skrum believes that the only way to live her life in peace is to go unnoticed. Don’t make waves, and the world will let her be. When she first entered Polstetter’s Academy to study alchemy, she was the first goblin student in her program. Everyone noticed her, everyone had something to say, and everyone watched to see if she would stumble. She grew to hate the attention and scrutiny, and in the end, she says that this is exactly what got her expelled. Now, she’s perfectly content to work in the shadows and avoid notice.

While she might seem taciturn and standoffish at first, those who persist in getting to know her find that it’s a shell. When she brings the walls down, she’s a vibrant and curious personality. She loves her work, and can spend hours discussing details of alchemical theory and formulae.

Skrum is tall for a goblin and she often dyes her ears various colors depending on her mood using alchemical dies she developed. She has unusually sharp teeth and doesn’t like to show them because she doesn’t want others to think she’s just another dumb, feral goblin.
