Misgivings of Greed & Power: An Excerpt

The following is a portion of a translated text, titled 'Misgivings of Greed & Power', dating from the catalyst times of the Age of Arcanum, originally written by Achemedus Philath, High Priest of Lumen.   "The Redeemer, henceforth known in this treatise by his common given name, Chronos, in his all-knowing foresight found the Titan Relics and Hallowed Marks that were lost to all but time. He placed them in the path of those who would come together to defeat a great hoarder of magic, many centuries past - Remstein, the greatest red dragon to have lived.     More ancient than ancient, Remstein had completed a great migration across the seas from a distant land, and settled in the land we now know as Dracora, where he established a lair, his influence transforming the people into beings in his image.     Remstein hoarded magical items and created a great conduit of magical power, drawing it in from an ever increasing range surrounding his lair. In Chronos' great foresight, he would bestowed the Hallowed Marks and Relics upon great adventurers, who fought and struck down the great dragon and released the magic he stored back into the world. Although they sucummbed to their injuries, and could not escape the destruction that defeating Remstein wrought, they joined Chronos in his realm as his immortal champions. From there, Chronos scattered the lost relics of the Gods once again, in the hope that when the time comes, those who are called upon will rise to the challenge that may well face their age.     Let us pray that whatever drove Remstein from his home across the waters does not attempt to follow him, for it would surely be the end of life as we know it. New heroes may arise, but how long after death and destruction has been sown across these lands?"
