The Borderlands
Ruled by the venerable Edbenor of Brenburrow, the town is the most well defended settlement in Ashtree besides the prominent city of Ringwarden, as its whole name stems from the fact that it is made for defense. In this world, it is very much needed. However, both the town and most settlements in the barony are quite well armed, with every citizen over 16 automatically enlisted in the militia. There are large walls around the town, and most settlements elsewhere can only afford the bare necessities of a wall. Large distances split the settlements here, so they cannot simply call for aid. They sometimes go so far as to getting ballistas, which help against some of the physically bigger threats. The old town of the actual settlement of Brenburrow has many old elven buildings that are now turned into exotic shops, museums, and lavish residences. Of course, no elves actually reside here, and many aren't even aware of their existence. The barony controls the Forest of the Old Gods, the Sentinel Forest and its Shadowed Peaks, Velsiggar Swamp, and its territory ends at the Timber Fort of the Western March.
