Hârbingal Geographic Location in Darker Planes | World Anvil

Hârbingal

A long dead people of Synads lived in Hârbingal, a planar pocket within the Plane of Shadows long ago, around the 7040s GAL. These synad, called the white-faced believed that their three faces are representations of the three universal minds: the worldly, the spiritual, and the logical. Seeking unison with the natural world around themselves, they made their home on the back of a colossal wood elemental, which after their demise died and sprouted a great tree atop its back. The tree called Rôhas now houses the stronghold of the Synod of Anarchy, and scattered about its foot are the camps of Githzerai soldiers that serve it (though other races reside in those camps as well).

Geography

Around the great petrified tree Rôhas, great pools of water are trapped between the roots, wide as lakes. Futher about are soft glens covered in purple and black grass that is soft to the touch, and a bordering black fog demarkates the way back into the The Plane of Shadows.

Fauna & Flora

The great tree Rôhas is already petrified and no longer a living thing, but mosses and smaller trees, ancient sapplings of himself grow on his hardened bark. These still yield pliable, but extremely durable wood that can be smithed into weapons and armor of great strength, suited even for use by druids. The shadowgrass that grows purple and black around the glens is very soft and can be woven into blankets and capes that may be made durable by being infused with the ancient amber of Rôhas. Strange fish and clams live in the pools by the roots, and they serve towards feeding the troops to an extent, though much has to be imported or magically created.

Natural Resources

The petrified wood of Rôhas can be worked like stone and is both tough and durable and highly sought after. It is mined by the Githzerai and sold on other planes to fill the Synod's coffers. Textiles woven from shadowgrass too are highly sought after, but most ends up with the Synod itself. As for the sappling wood, it is smithed into weapons and armor and used by the Githzerai armies of the Synod.
