The Alaafins

Known Kings

The Alaafins of the Cassad Empire

Year 1 (1047 BTC): Ziara,

First Alaafin of the Empire. Established learning centers on Cassidy to reclaim the old knowledge. Sent the jump probes into the galaxy to locate the gates and find and evaluate existing planets. Laid the groundwork for the conquest.

Year 110 (938 BTC): Shaka Zulu Cassad

Led the first wave of Cassad ships into the Known. Spent most of his reign fighting and building the empire. Died in battle (with who?)

Year 146 (902 BTC): Amasis and Khadijah Cassad

Elected as co- Alaafins of the Empire by the Elders. Their rule was constantly challenged by other Cassad family members. Both were assassinated during the Sokoto revolt. Sarkis, their son, was destined to be chosen as Alaafin but disappeared days before the selection. The revolt was quelled and the Elders chose their daughter, Claudia as Alaafin.

Year 169 (879 BTC): Claudia Cassad

After establishing her control over Ziara, Claudia resumed Shaka’s consolidation of the Empire. It was under her rule that 95% of the Empire was established. The Cassad Alifia begins. Empress Claudia

Year 249 (799 BTC): Minerva and Alexander

Upon Claudia’s death her children were chosen as Co Alaafins; Minerva as Ghana; Alexander as Kaya Maghan. Minerva completed the subjugation of the rest of the Known. Alexander established the Marabouts, planet administrators selected from One million families to establish Empire law on the newly assimilated planets. Alexander died in 299 A.Z. (749 BTC Minerva serve another eight years and sole Alaafin before sickness forced her to release the position of Alaafin. She was succeeded by her daughter, Akili.

Year 307 (741 BTC): Akili

Akili’s rule in relative peace. Her rule was spent consolidating Cassad control of the Known and repairing those worlds damaged by decades of war. Cassad engineers spread out throughout the Known, bringing many of the backwater planets up to speed to current Cassad tech. Akili’s rule was long due to her long life. She lived to be 152 years old and ruled until her death. She is remembered as one of the most beloved Cassad Alaafins.

Year 417 (631 BTC): Joseph St. Marteen

Joseph St. Marteen’s rule is considered the starting point of the Cassad Empire’s slide into decadence. With no major enemies or challenges to their rule, the Cassads spent most of their time in elaborate celebrations and political schemes. The Marabouts slowly became more loyal to their planets than the empire.

Year 513 (735 BTC): Abiodun

Son of Joseph St. Marteen. Abiodun is known for his reverence of Ziara. He established a church in her honor that did not last on Ziara but took root in the outer worlds.

Year 600 (648 BTC): Yejide

Yejide, the daughter of Abiodun’s sister Olajumoke. Abiodun never married or sired children, so the Elders selected Olajumoke. Considered one of the most intelligent of the Alaafin’s, she spent most of her time on expeditions across the Known, leaving the rule of the Empire.

Year 693 (555 BTC): Shanika Lewa ( Beautiful Shanika)

Shanika Lewa’s rule continued the empire’s slow side into decadence. The marabout dissatisfaction grew during her rule.

800 (448 BTC): Babarimisa

For many historians the rule of Babarimisa signaled the end of the Cassad Alifia. It was during his rule that the Alien planets rose against the empire. The Empire immediately sent warriors to control the uprising. Since the Empire considered their response a police action many do not consider this a break in the peace.

902 (346 BTC): Zene

Babarimisa’s daughter. During her reign the Libations were increased to support Ziara’s increasingly sedentary lifestyle. The first meetings of the marabouts began.

1012 (236 BTC): Ose

Ose took the Stool as the Empire’s power waned. Most outworlds had curtailed their libations and were channeling the money into efforts to establish a full rebellion. The Alien Worlds revolted again, and once again the Empire refused to consider their retaliatory methods a war. But in 1224 the truth could no longer be denied. The brunt of the Cassad military was sent to deal with the insurrection and the War of the Blades began, ending is an uncomfortable stalemate in 1273 (25 BTC). In 1275 (23 BTC) the Kujuinga Na Conference and the rebel planets officially declared their independence. Ose was the last Cassad to hold the title Alaafin.
