The Complete Book of the Psyonic

Greenseers, Psychic Warriors and Beyond

The mind is a strange phenomenon that is highly feared and respected at the same time. There is not a single book that can summarize all the inside-out of what the mind has inside, not its deepness or is strength. How can one can test the strength of one´s mind with the same strictness and accuracy that one physical strength can have?

Maybe a connection to the planet itself, a field that It originates from the very nature, connecting inside the mind of the planet, with your mind riding the wind like a horse to travel to faraway lands with a single thought without leaving your body. Connecting with the trees and using its roots as veins to pump knowledge inside your mind, scanning the eras long gone to search for forbidden knowledge.

A thousand eyes, a hundred skins, wisdom deep as the roots of ancient trees. Greenseers.

Maybe it’s an energy field that surrounds and binds us all, an ubiquitous energy source that a metaphysical and spiritual bonding not to the planet, but to the cosmos, fueled primarily by your connection to the universe, how immersed are you in the cosmos, how attuned are you to the high frequency that the planets in its sidereal balet has when traversing in the universe, connecting to higher planes using meditation.

It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together

For others, it’s a window to the evolution of the species, the final way that nature has to push oneself to the limit, destroying the limits between ones mind and other, puncturing the mental field that separates one person and another, creating an empathic link that has developed over time when the first person created such simple yet complex thing as art, separating the man from the beast. A torch in the darknes that it’s the universe, illuminating the path to the final destiny of mankind, the only place that we can finally roam free: Space.

The human brain is a Pandora's box of electrical charges we can only begin to understand. Most brains are but receivers; however, some are advanced, sending and receiving charges as they choose.

Every culture, every race and every organization has its own definition of what mental powers are, but each falls in one of the three aforementioned categories, so a general consensus was made across 4000 years of history in that regard. Nobody knows how it originates but everyone its certain how to fuel it and control it, with different ways to achieve the same goal, and different interpretations of the methodology to do it. And so, sometimes a way of practicing mental powers can overlap with other way, or even be the complete opposite or even an amalgamation.

The Five Fingers

The effects of mental powers, Green Dreams, Chaos Manifesters, and so on are separated into five categories:

  • Telepaths: The Telepaths are the most common kind of Empath, Chaos Manifester, Dreamer, however you like to call them. They are the ones who project outward and inwards their mental powers, meaning that they can both read others minds, move objects with them and anything in between. As such, they can further develop their powers by way of meditation and communion with others. The most general and publicly known type, they can also see and interact with ghosts thanks to their powers. Those include but not limited to: psychometry, astral projection, pyrokinesis, mind reading and telekinesis. In social situations they are the diplomats, or the face of the group, since they can sense others' emotions as a sort of aura around them and can access knowledge beyond the normal thanks to their ability to read minds, or even paying attention to their surroundings with psychometry. A particularly violent and uncaring Telepath can easily become someone who forces his or her will upon others, and mentally dominates everyone, not asking permission to enters people's minds.
  • Psychic Warriors: The Psychic Warriors are also common, yet not widely known by the rest of not awakened society. They cannot project their powers outward like the Telepaths, they use their powers instead, to transcend the physical realm, acquiring physical strength and resilience thanks to their Psy powers. They can harden their skin, mutate their eyes to see in the dark, or breath underwater. Masters of their own bodies that they can even get rid of any poison they consume, and even belch out fire from their mouths. They use the Psy Power to Augment themselves in all ways imaginable, even from a more mental perspective, being able to proyect mental shields to evade mind readings, or have eidetic memory, they can even fill with energy their brains to stay awake for longer periods of time or to unlock previously forgotten tokens of intellect with eidetic memory. They sometimes can be interpreted as self centered due to the...well, self centered nature of their powers. Unlike Telepaths that usually are more cordial, these are more warrior-like, athletic and boisterous.
  • Holy Hands: The Holy Hands function diametrically opposite of the Psychic Warriors. They cannot affect their own bodies with their powers, instead they affect the bodies of others. Even if the name can suggest it they can do more than just heal others, but those are their most common jobs in any kind of society that can accept them. They lack the TK and Mind Reading powers of Telepaths, but it's usually not unheard of for someone to mistook the two of them. As such, they can harden or lose the skin of others, they can wipe memories by sudden surges of energy into certain parts of the brain, even lower or up the temperature of others body, and usually the same as the Psy Warriors, but outwardly. As an added bonus to further confuse them with Telepaths, they can also see and interact with ghosts, but on a different level than Telepths. When the former can scan the mind of a ghost, the Holy Hands can touch them, by interacting with items like clothing and giving them the ability to “Ghost Touch”. In theory, they could give Final Death to a ghost or spirit by using this power with a weapon and striking it.
  • Eldritch Knights: Eldritch Knights are the combination of a Telepath and a Psychic Warrior. They are the epitome of “Jack of all trades, master of none” since they can both empower themselves and their bodies with Psy Energy and read minds, also having TK, and speak to ghosts. They have so much on top of them that they rarely can master and refine a single craft, unlike the other two groups. They dont particularly excel at anything, yet they also dont feel as constrained as others. In social situations this also reflects on them, not wanting to be classified as anything, or being around a lot with just a limited bunch of people. Always changing and always moving because they hate limits and rules more than any other due to having too much power without rules, unlike the other two groups that know easily at what extent their powers start and finish. This can easily lead to some abuse, but not always.
  • Wargs: The most misanthropic of them all, they tend to shun themselves from society, beings of high independence and a great connection with nature. Most of the time vegetarians because they can only create empathic links with animals, from the fish to the hawk, horses and even wolves. They sometimes outright hate interaction with other beings except other wargs and animals, even don’t mixing with other Empaths of the four remaining kinds. They are above all else, highly naturalistic individuals, loving communing with nature and surrounding themselves with it. They can form bonds with animals, giving them higher mental power and great intelligence, even giving animals a semblance of human intellect. Of course, if you ask a Warg, their opinion is that all animals are equal or more intelligent than a human, only that they talk a language that normal people cannot understand. They can predict the weather, call upon the elements, control the vines of trees, etc.

Organizations

Many organizations try to group or protect people with this kind of power. The most successful and big is The Church of Chaos. Of course, its also the only one that its public about its agenda of protecting psychics. Others, most of them, are secretive about it.

The Green Hands

The Green Hands are an organization of purely Minotaur Wargs, but sometimes they tend to accept Wargs of other races if they show to be committed to the goal of the organization. They inhabit the Forbidden Zone, the vast swaths of lands that the Edekhan Empire bombarded with an Azoth Bomb and caused an environmental crisis, leaving the area a terrible wasteland where nothing grows and everything goes to die. The Azoth Bomb was created with the death of countless of spirits of the elements, and so their violent demise created an explosion of catastrophic proportions that consumed the lands that are now the Forbidden Zone, leaving it as a dead zone, the water is now poison and full of radiation, the soil is full of salt, the forests were burned down, and the wind can cause tornadoes and sandstorms. The Green Hands is also one of the few organizations of the agoraphobic Wargs, so that already makes it special in itself. Their goals are simple, to use their powers to make the Forbidden Zone habitable again, repopulating it with flora and fauna to mend the atrocity of the bombing. The organization also has Elementalists of all the races on it, but the Wargs are specially important and the leaders of it.

The Eight Whisperers

They are a cult inside all the Bardic Universities. Mostly Telepaths and Eldritch Knights, they use their mental powers as a sort of communications network. They have developed a unique power using their telepathy that none others outside of it have. They can form Bonds or Clusters, using their mind to share skills and knowledge inside small groups of no more than eight people. Letting you share even sensations and experiences, memories and even likes and dislikes. This is for all intents and purposes, as a sort of project to collect knowledge, information of any kind, and bring peace amongst races, since in this way, even language is shared, and the cultural and racial differences can be overcome easily. They tend to spearhead diplomatic meetings outside of universities, and research projects when they are inside of them.

The Flaming Telepaths

Based on the Silver Deserts, the Flaming Telepaths are a nomadic tribe composed of a great number of psy tuned individuals, not limited to telepaths only. As such, mostly Telepaths and Eldritch Knights would benefit from their teachings. A lot of their ranks are humans, specially the Albaqir, the humans that live in the deserts. Having already a natural pyrokinesis, the Albaqirs are able to harness their pyrokinetic psy powers with much more power than normally would be allowed. They practice the ritualized art of Pyromancy, divination by looking into the flames. They adore a god of unknown name, that they identify with the surname of “The Black One” since, according to their mythos, having the true name of their deity is a sin. They are are a tribe of desert nomads, keeping mostly to themselves, but usually some of their members venture out of the tribe in long dream quests.

The Black Talons

It is a sect, an apocalyptic cult of religious fanatics that's extremely dangerous and not to be trusted. Its origins are rooted in the start of the Kalermenina League, when the last king died. Legend says that one of the lovers of King Antigonus was a Holy Hand, a man by the name of Anaximander, city of birth unknown. Anaximander at the end of the war was heartbroken by the news of the death of his lover, the king, and fell down into a depression. He died with a broken heart, wasting away because there was no more beauty in the world. In his sorry state he opened a gate without him knowing about it an do he became a Demon of Chaos. In his state as a Energy Vampire he became an important figure in Kalermenian politics and when his status as a demon was discovered he was ostracized and hunted down. He managed to survive engulfing an entire Polis into a Death Field, and bloated by all the energy of an entire city he opened many Gates, creating devastation and a mini ice age on the zone (Lets say the length of England). The demon made himself a throne of ice in the middle of the desert and started to receive sacrifices from the other cities that were frigtnethed by his enormous power enough to drain an entire city. His reign lasted fourteen years until Demon Hunters killed him and sealed all the Gates. After so many years the history of that event became a story, and a story became myth. But now, what remains of that is the ideal of Energy Vampires organized into a sect that scheme to have other Awakeneds turned into demons to have as a personal army, with the goal in mind to have a realm of their own where humanity is but cattle for them. All kinds of Awakeneds are accepted into the cult, total obediences is demanded. People turn to the Black Talons for help and contention since 90% of their leaders are Energy Vampires and so prey upon the weak, Awakened or Sleepers, to do their bidding. What they promise is a privileged place in this new world to come.

Sample Powers

Telepath powers:

Telekinesis: Self explanatory   Astral Projection: Astral Projection allows a clairvoyant to completely free his consciousness from his physical form and travel mentally to distant locations while leaving his body behind.   Clairvoyance: The power to perceive things beyond the normal range of human senses. The default form of clairvoyance permits a seer to project all of her senses to a distant location, observing what happens there as if she were physically present. The events witnessed happen contemporaneously. The seer can neither see into the future nor into the past of the location viewed, unless she also has precognition and/or postcognition.   Dream travel: Self explanatory.   Post and Precognition: Self explanatory.   Psychometry: : Psychometry is a subset of clairvoyance that deals with perceiving the history of physical objects. Also known as “object reading,” psychometry permits a psychic to handle an object for several seconds and then undergo a brief vision of important moments in the object’s history.   Mind Reading: Self explanatory.   Aura Reading: Aura Reading represents a form of psychic perception, but also has elements of mind reading. According to telepaths who have this power, all living things (and some “nonliving” things) are surrounded by a nimbus of energy that is perceptible by psychic means or by Kirlian photography. Aura Reading allows a psychic to perceive this otherwise invisible halo, and with experience interpret its constantly changing hues to gain insights into a subject.   Psychic Spear: An extremely rare and dangerous power, Psychic Spear allows a telepath to damage the mind of another being by force of will. The psychic uses Thought Projection with such force and intensity that it overwhelms the victim’s brain, potentially causing a stroke or cerebral hemorrhage.   Thought Projection: The telepath can move beyond simple mind reading to actually projecting his thoughts into the mind of another. A telepath cannot usually transmit thoughts beyond his line of sight

Psychic Warriors:

Super Strength.   Super Speed.   Super Stamina and toughness.   Eidetic Memory: Unlike normal, human achievable eidetic memory, the power of the psy warriors goes beyond and into the realm of the supernatural. They can recall with strange accuracy anything they had seen, smell, read or hear. Their memories are washed with latent post cognitive abilities, letting them recall in a trance-like state where they can extend their normal perception to even discover new things on their memories, previously never seen.   Super leap.   Tremor Sense: Sensitive to vibrations transmitted through earth and stone. So long as you are touching the ground, you can “feel” the locations of moving creatures also touching the ground well enough.   Touch based telekinesis: You are not capable of lifting an entire battleship with your small tiny hands, even if you are able to pierce the hull with your fists. But now you are able to do so, with a limited application of telekinesis.   Shockwave: With a stomp or strike to the ground, you create powerful shock waves that ripple out, knocking everyone out.   Mutate the self: With enough mastery of the body you can change even your own DNA by small amounts of time, changing the inner self to have certain advantages that won't last long or your own body would start to break up. You can gain dark vision, or vision underwater, a healing factor, etc.   Ingragivty: By sheer force of will you change the point on which gravity affects your body, and so you can perfectly walk on walls or the ceiling as if where the normal floor.

Side/Secondary Effects

The dangers of the use of psychic energies are too many to count. The mind becomes a tunning fork for energies that humanity can barely comprehend, and even those that claim to understand it hide their agendas.

Demonic Possession

It is real, yes. Behind the veil there is another universe composed of this psyonic energies, where the feelings, experiences and shadows of trillions of individuals rest. When one opens itself too much to the use of their own powers one runs the risk of opening a gate.   A gate is a pathway to this universe. Invisible, yet one is able to feel it as a great disturbance. Screams and ghastly noises of ages past and countless of different alien lives all coming crashing down, like if one opened the door inside a submarine and let all the water come inside.   These Gates act like the unnatural Taint that the use of a lot of powers by a lot of individuals can have in one area, but permanent since the energies never run out unless the gate is closed.   When a psy caster is overwhelmed by one of these doors and their sanity is eroded completely the shadows that came to this side and manifested as alien ghosts take control of the body, and turn it into a Demon of Chaos, a psionic-ghost possessed corpse of unimaginable power.     They come in many shape and forms, depending on the Awakened Path one has.
  • The Telepaths can become a Poltergeist, a demon that has high levels of telekinesis, and able to pierce into the minds of individuals to look for their most painful memories and bring them into reality as illusions made manifest. They seek to haunt a singular building, and propel themselves with TK as if they could fly, hovering slowly to haunt. The feed upon the fear that they elicit, becoming stronger and stronger, they can even feed upon the negative emotions of ghosts or phantoms or spirts of any kind, but they do not have any control upon them, unlike….
  • The Banshee, the second kind of Chaos Demon that can be made from a Telepath. They also have appropriate mastery over TK and TP, but not as much as as great as a Poltergeist. However, they can phase and turn invisible at will. Choosing to haunt with their voices, proyecting them over kilometers to scare and haunt lonely individuals at night, and only at night, since they are killed by the sunlight. They prefer to hunt of course at night and over vast swaths of land, hating the cities and buildings. They can command lesser ghosts and rouse the anger of the spirits of the location that they haunt, causing extreme pain to a lot of local cults. They feed the same way as Poltergeists, from the absolute terror of humans, to the ectoplams of the ghost they command, and even the Azoth of Elementals. A Banshee cannot feed from an undead, even if they can scare it, mostly because they need the spark of life to give real nutritional value to their meal, so they tend to lash out in fury against the undead like Vampires, Werewolves, intelligent and self aware ghosts, zombies, etc.
  • The Slasher is the product of a possession on a Psychic Warrior. They are beings immune to mind reading, scriying and other effects that help you localize them. They are, by all effects and purposes, nigh invulnerable. Their bodies and minds are so detached from our world that they don't feel pain and ignore most damage done to them, in a combination of pure physical might and mind over matter they can even survive impalings, or even having skin so tough that a sword can lose its edge against them. They know only two things, to move forwards stalking a prey or preys, and to kill it in the most vicious and horrible way imaginable. Physical powerhouses that can dish out damage enough to pierce the hull of tanks, being set on fire and still walk like if it was nothing. Relentless, uncaring for anyone, always moving forwards and never flinching, ready to rip and tear anything on their path.

  • The Atavist is the second form of Chaos Possession a Psy Warrior can have. They represent that primal thing lurking inside us all, those urges that need to be satiated. Mainly the need to feed, fuck and sleep. The bodies mutate into horrible shapes, sometimes resembling animals, or some others resembling alien creatures with shapes that suggest great violence and gore. They have an aura of fear around them called Delirium that causes those that see them to have a breakdown due to the sheer fear after seeing such creature, those unlucky to remember them due to a great will power or other supernatural protection can remember faintly, thinking that a bear mauled them, or even other kind of creature of the night, always shifting the blame away from the Atavist. They are the primordial beast stalking in the night, lurking in the shadows, waiting to have the perfect meal.
The demonic possession of an Eldritch Knight, given their unique connection to the other Awakeneds its a mix bag. They can convert to either of the previous types, or turn into a…
  • Revenant, the only Demon of Chaos that also counts as an undead. After a particularly gruesome, violent or dramatic death, enough to taint with a shadow of the deceased, the Revenant is born. A spirit of vengeance that raises the body from the grave, empowering the dead cells with chaotic energies. Now, yearning for retribution the Revenant is an always burning soul that excels in pyrokinesis and flight, able to sense with its powers whoever it killed it previously and finish it off. After that, it shall hunt all its family and friends to erase any trace of its existence. When it finishes its task of vengeance it self destructs, opening a lot of Gates with their death.
  • The Warg can spawn only one kind of demon, but once that demon grows it can grow into another kind of demon as a sort of evolution. So, two in one. The Cryptids are the result of demonic possessions of a Warg. The mental link that the Warg has with his animals becomes a syphon, and the animals start to feed upon the vital energy of the Warg, absorbing his intellect, his soul, his power, everything. The Empath dies, a whithered husk of its former self, while his animals are now mutated abhorrent beats corrupted by chaos. They now have the mighty need to feed on others, eating brains to evolve and evolve in the hopes of gathering enough grey mater to evolve into a humanoid form again, yearning to walk in two legs and re integrate into human (or minotaur,or whatever) society as a…
  • Skinwalker, a being capable of full humanoid mimicry. They still exude a great aura of discomfort that pushes them into living in the outskirts of society as pariahs, so their dreams of being a normal functioning member of society will never be completed. Specially because the cravings for brains never ends, and they still retain the ability to return to their original animal form, having still the powers and abilities associated with their animal form when in humanoid form.
  • The final type of known Chaos Demon is the Energy Vampire. They do not mutate, nor change in any physical form. They are now something more insidious. Past members of the Holy Hands will turn into an energy vampire, or commonly known as Psychic Vampires. They are normal everyday beings that you can encounter, they do not crave flesh nor to kill. They only need to exist alongside normal society, infiltrating into social circles, having normal lives and existences. But what lies deep inside is a malignant being unable to feel empathy, that feeds upon the souls of those who are around him or her. They have the rare and terrible ability called “Force Drain”, able to cast an aura of uneasiness that syphons the energy of those around them, to give them to the Energy Vampire, making them stronger and stronger. The most rare and powerful kind of demon, since their drain can be morphed into a death field that can even drain the life out of plants, microbes, animals, etc. Can even grant Final Death to any immortal and supernatural being. Final Death being a death that cannot be resurrected from. Energy Vampires can even drain undead beings, so they surprisingly excel at hunting normal vampires. They can focus their aura into a single being to wither their target at will, eroding his energy and will to fight. They tend to have big social circles to feed from a lot of people at the same time, they are leaders and highly charismatic. But do not be mistaken, its all a front, they lack empathy and care only for themselves. Their only known motive is to corrupt further Empaths to create more Demons of Chaos.

Manifestation

Most powers are invisible. But, of course, the field of psionic energy is something that can be felt by a kind of sixth sense, and so enough psy energies around a single area can disturb the wild life, or even leave stains that alter the physical properties of objects. Like an area that grows abnormal amounts of vegetation, or no vegetation at all. A permanently hot or cold room, etc. This is call the Taint. Even other Awakeneds can feel the ripples of heavy use of powers, or the dead of others near them. Especially if they had a bond with each other.   After all of that, the uses of powers has no visible component, unless specifically the power needs it. Like casting a fire, or blinding lights. So, a good deal of stealth can be employed when using powers.

Discovery

Through the millennia a number of different ways to call upon the unseen powers of the mind have been concocted, some are more ritualistic and others more pragmatic, some even are science fiction in their own rights. Every culture, race, and organization has its own definition for mental powers, its own way to classified them and to evaluate them.

There may be some overlapping, but in general there are three mayor routs one can go with this:

The Mystical: Some other way of casting magic, different from talking the same language as the spirits of the four elements or casting blood magic rituals while connecting to one of the four legendary constructs of the universe. Instead of deriving the power from something else as the aforementioned, the mystical part of the mental powers of the Empaths is derived from a connection to the planet, as if the will of the animals, the plants and the environment all corresponded to one same will, the will of the planet, as if was a living thing that can feel, fear, heal, and enraged when not respected. They believe that their powers are not separated from magic, they are one and the same, but a different way to cast it, to call upon its powers. But the same, nonetheless.

Many clans that adhere to this way of life are somewhat primitive technologically, superstitious and mysterious. Various examples of this can be found, like the Stone Dancers, the tribes of the Flaming Telepaths, the Circuitry Minds, the Iron Minds, and the leaders some of backwater communities.

The Metaphysical: While others interpret it as some kind of primitive religion, another form of shamanism and animalism, others see it as the religion of the future for a more far advance and complex society, a more complex philosophy of the mind and the body.

A connection to the stars, to higher planes were only the right mind set can get you to go. The universe, the stars, the planets, all singing and dancing around a sacred geometry that you can see as your brain starts to develop its potential to ascension.

To evolve is to change, to change is to really see the stars and the universe, the connection that the geometry has to all individuals.

But some individuals think differently, still in the same terms.

Some thinks that the presence of intellect holds a torch in the dark vastness of space, a torch of power and food that can call upon creatures of unimaginable power and hunger to come feats with our minds. The Eidolons are such creatures, some suggest, extraterrestrial life that comes from the beyond, looking for inflect to feed upon, life to steal, no more than highly intelligent parasites that came from outer space, where no empire dares to go. This is the opinion of the Church of the Lord of Light, and the mission of the angels, to destroy the Eidolons and prevent them to call their creators.

Others, like the Church of Chaos, think that the Eidolons are benevolent creatures, a psyquic race that has evolved over millions of years and now has the abilities to travel space at will, teaching other societies the wonders of the mental powers, of being an Empath. One who has the power to feel the feelings of others, and in time our society can and will change to have only empaths that can solve problems with only their minds, using their powers to understand and forgive.
