The Church of Chaos

Cosmological Views

The Gods of Chaos are in a constant battle with the universe. The last being a block of cosmic matter, not a god with intellect, but a living creature so absurdly powerful and so deprived of intelligent thought that it cannot change, even if it wanted to, being some sort of block of unmelting block of ice that only chaos can shape.

And so, during millions of years the forces of chaos has shaped the world, creating life and death, heath and cold, and light and darkness, from the block of cosmic law that remains unchanged, without real life or death, without meaning. And so, Chaos, the true giver of reason, can be the only real philosophy that guides the path of life for all beings.

And so, the universe must be carved out with the help of the gods of chaos so true life can emerge.

Of course, in a system based on deception and conformism they will always be a resistance, and so the Church of Chaos is persecuted as no more than super powered anarchists.

In any case, the Gods of Chaos are the primary pantheon of the Church of Chaos. The seven (sometimes nine) deity’s that had transcended the physical realms and have achieved Nirvana, beings of pure energy and will that are so powerful and so wise that they can create life, they can see the primary blocks of reality and shape it as they see fit. They have shaped the universe from this unliving bedrock of nothingness.

And so, with the help of the Eidolons they spread the message of chaos, of defiance against authority and the establishment. To be a rebel, to be a free thinker, a freedom fighter. This is the core tenants of the Church of Chaos.

Granted Divine Powers

The Church of Chaos accepts all those who exhibit mental powers, from basic telekinesis, farseeing, and even astral projection. They are a small group full of people that complement each other, full of understanding and empathy.

There is no priesthood in the Church of Chaos, everyone is able to do freely as they want, while they don’t interfere with others in the process. Of course, one can specialize in some areas, like teachers, so everyone has always some sort of powers but the teachers can help you to reach your full potential in the mind, and create new ways to channel chaos within you.

The mental powers inside the teachings of the Church of Chaos are so advance that even spies from other empires tend to steal secrets from them.

Psionic powers are a must to enter the cult, and so the normal everyday use of them has caused that the normal everyday people inside the cult have psionic´s ten times more powerful than the baseline empath.

Sects

The Church of Chaos has different groups whiting them, every one of them renders worship to a single chaos god, sometimes two or even three, but no more than that. They have the knowledge to know that even thou they have the empathy to face problems without violence, they don’t want more than three sects living in the same space lest they start to argue with one another and be easy prey for outside powers.

So, they each have a different sect for each of the seven gods of chaos.

  • Aldebaran: The Chaos God of Strife. It is the most prominent god within the psionic warriors because it governs the realms of self-improvement, mettle testing odds, the struggle for life and physical wellbeing. It’s usually depicted as a raging bull, other times its depicted as the electricity running inside the muscles of an athlete or a person enduring great suffering. The detractors of the Church of Chaos depict him as a god of war and rage, the primal instincts of a unruly animal and the bloodlust of warriors. All who have to challenge themselves, and want to overcome unsurmountable odds are welcomed to worship him, however the most martial Awakened will usually have more to learn. Like the Psychic warriors and Eldritch Knights.
  • Lakhasha: The Chaos god of senses. In the Grey Waste that was the universe when it started, Lakhasha was born out of chaos, the first of the three original gods of chaos that was born at the same time as the universe. Digging in the grey waste Lakhasha created the five senses, smell, taste, hearing, sight and touch to guide the future generations of chaotic individuals. And so, as the creator of the senses, the patron deity of the tools that help us to create and interact with the world, Lakhasha´s devotees tend to be from the Holy Hands and the Telepaths, who hone their skills to senses others, to feel and to touch others. In the communities Lakhasha is honored by giving a feast to your senses, like eating a delicious meal, seeing an artistic piece that really strikes you, or even something simple as having passionate sex, feeling love, or in general having a powerful earthly feeling. Their detractors only see it as a god of debauchery and degeneracy, being dominated by the basic desires and seeking even more ways to quench those desires in even more extreme ways.
  • Airvatha Sakra: The god of death and rebirth, the carrion bird of plagues of the unseen world. The first of the chaos god to emerge from pure and raw chaos when the universe first began. And so, along with the other gods started to carve out of the Grey Waste the building blocks of reality. He is the creator of life, and so the creator of death, the only certainties that are in our path. No matter what happens we will die, and no matter what we will live our lives. And so, the dual god created the fear of death and spread it like a plague across the universe, so the first self-aware intelligent beings can come into existence. He is not the father of the animal kingdom, but the father of the unseen world of microscopic organisms, the architect of the first and simpler organism in the universe. The plankton, the amoebas, even viruses and bacteria. He is also a god of fear, the fear of death, the creator of the natural instincts of Fight or Flight that impulses evolution in the species. For some, he is the most important god of them all, and so he is adored by the five types of empaths at the same time, but specially Wargs on top of all worship him. But some see it as a malicious god of plagues and death, the bringer of destruction and decay, an agent of power who’s inly motive is to destroy life and see it rot.
  • Sethary: Life and death was created to have a starting point and an end point to things, the five senses were created to explore the space in which life was created. And so, time was needed. Time and space were created at the same time by the two gods to give rise to the universe, and so the god Airvatha and Sethary joined forces to create the time stream. The arrow of time, the concept of the passing of the seasons and the movement of the stars in the universe, the sacred geometry that ties all together. Sethary is the creator of all this, and the second Chaos God to have ever lived. He is the keeper of the time stream, able to know what will happen at every point in time, able to see all beings and to witness all important things in history. He is the keeper of knowledge, the one who records history and keeps all the books in existence. A warden of knowledge, god patron of scholars of any subject matter. His task is to help humanity comprehend the secrets of the universe, the laws of physics and the material world. He is the keeper of the time stream, and so he can grant his most devout followers the gift of immortality. A great enemy of necromancers. His detractors see him as a god of schemes, a manipulator of the greatest kinds and unearthed of knowledge not meant for humanity. A conspirator and creator of change, of suffering thanks to the chaos of lawlessness.
