The Grey Sea

It is hard to believe that life once lingered there in that place let alone civilization. The moonlight struck the roiling hills gently in a soft glow that pronounced the beauty of the place with all the romance of a shiny boil. Figures linger listlessly, drifting like the eddies of a pool left by the tide of a foul ocean. The moonlight gleams, catching the light of dead shrubbery, desiccated by decades cold salt air. The cursed earth blisters and boils with slime the hue of tarnished copper. The strange lichen grows irregularly, forming a chaotic shifting mass that inches and retreats across the wasteland as time stretches formlessly onward. It is like the humps of a great hungry animal, undulating with the same obvious hostility of an open bear trap. Like an errant shore it crashes against us.

Geography

The Grey Sea is a rolling series of hillocks that break up the champaigns outside of Maussengart. The grey snow covered hills are often indistinguishable from the shambling hordes of undead that wander the plains in search of food. The optical illusion on a full moon night can sometimes mistake the roving hordes for hills themselves, creating the illusion of a grey ocean that undulates outside the city gates.
