Nemeton
Nemeton sits central to the continent of Albin, separating the courts of the Seelie and Unseelie. The largest and most important place in the realms, it grows wild and tall out of the earth, in the bows of a massive gnarled old oak tree.
It's said in hushed and reverent tones that no one truly knows the origins of the lontach Darach (pronounced Eontoc), the great tree that holds Nemeton in its branches. Branches that seem to span for miles out from its massive trunk. Its roots some say stretch deep into the land and to all parts of the continent itself, though no proof of this has yet been found. It existed before the first Sidhe stepped onto the shores of Albin. There is a belief that the great tree will persist long after everything else has faded back into the darkness.
Long ago it was agreed that Nemeton should be considered a neutral capital. A centre of diplomacy and commerce separate from the sways of both courts. Ruled by the Ard (lord mayor), a role voted on by representatives of both the Seelie and Unseelie courts. The political machinations of the city taking place behind the high walls of The Twilight Palace are little known to those in the streets outside. It's understood that as long as the old treatises hold, the city maintains its independence.
